Blog Tour: Amber to Ashes by Gail McHugh

Blurb:
They were a storm I never saw coming, an unforeseen heartbreak on the edge of a dangerous cliff.

In AMBER TO ASHES (Atria Paperback; June 9th, 2015), Amber Moretti’s life changes in the span of minutes. An orphaned outsider, she is desperate to start fresh the moment she walks onto campus. In the time it takes to cross the university’s dining hall, she meets two men who bring color, air, and light to her darkened world.

They became my addiction, each a needle to my next hit, my high.

Brock Cunningham’s appeal is dizzying, a potent force Amber can’t deny. A green-eyed smooth talker, he instantly attracts Amber. It doesn’t take long for him to consume her every thought, her every breath.

Ryder Ashcroft, a blue-eyed, tattooed, and pierced bad boy, turns Amber off immediately—that is, until he kisses her, stealing a piece of her heart, her soul.

They were as opposite as fire and ice, yet I ached for them equally.

Never knowing she could be broken down in so many unexpectedly beautiful yet petrifying ways, Amber finds herself falling for both men.

Immoral? Maybe. I say undeniable. Uncontained.

But one devastating event changes everything, shattering each of their lives...and Amber isn’t sure she can recover from it.

My Review

First, I have to mention that I LOVE this cover!!!!

This book consumed me. I knew going in that it was going to be a very angsty read, one that would mess with my head and my heart. This is what I would call sort of a love triangle, others may disagree. But if I can pick a side, then it is a love triangle! I have picked a side by the way... #TEAMRYDER all the way, from the start!

Starting at the age of fourteen, I've abused, loved, craved, and hated sex in ways most people can't fathom.

Anyways- about the book. Amber was a good character. She has came from a bad place. I mean really bad like make you wanna cry and go crazy bad. But instead she's just a little crazy but I say that in a good way. I really loved her spitfire personality. Also, girl is super intuned with her sexual side. I just have to say that because there is a lot of sex and sexual innedenos in this book and a really really fucking hot scene! On to the guys: Ryder and Brock. These guys were both on the scene immediately.
"I want to know what makes her tick, what gets her going, I want to know what she dreams about, what she fears. I want to know her quirks, her weird little habits. I want to know what she looks like when she wakes up in the morning and who she's thinking about when she goes to sleep. I want to know her favorite color, cereal and band. I want to know anything she's willing to tell me."
Ryder is your typical bad boy. Tall, dark and handsome, not scratch that, sexy, tattooed and a ladies man. Did I mention his blue eyes? I'm a sucker for blue eyes. From the start Ryder and Amber share some time of connection and sexual tension. Their interactions were my favorite.

Brock is kind of like the opposite than Ryder. Both men are tall and hot, but where Ryder has black hair, Brock's is a dirty blonde and his eyes are green. The first meeting with Brock and Amber is great too and pulls you in. In fact, their first meeting shows a lot, but I won't get into that.

I will be honest, I wanted to like Brock, I really did. But I just don't. I don't trust him either. I don't know that I believe his feelings either. And he's a little scary and batshit crazy underneath.

Ryder is the one I probably shouldn't like but I do. Pretty sure I was already head over heels for him by the second interaction he had with Amber. You can tell he has so much more to offer than what you see on the surface. Throughout the story my heart bled for him.

There are so many different things I highlighted in this book. So many things that reached into my soul. So many things that were written so truthfully, no matter how ugly it could be.

This book ends on a major cliffhanger. But it affects me not in the way it is probably intended. My mind is still hanging on something else. Sometimes our heart does its job a little too well and we end up falling in love with two people at once. Some may laugh and say there is no way, but it happens. It hurts, but it happens. So that leave you with the question, Who do you choose?

5 Stars!!!
