My Review

This was such a good book and I really liked Georgia and Brett's story.
Georgia is Nora's sister that we met in Book 1 of this series, Throttled. She's been through a lot already in life and is just trying to fill her days up and keep busy. But she gets a lot busier when Brett, one of Reid's teammates, gets injured and she offers to help take care of him.
Brett Sallinger is kind of like the bad boy of Motocross. He lives life a little on the dangerous side since he rides Freestyle, which is some scary cool looking stuff, and has never been one to not take a risk. After he finds himself injured he decides to risk it all and pursue Georgia Bennett. After all, they both could use a little fun.
I really liked seeing things play out between these two and was relieved to see that it was mostly angst free. I feel like Georgia has been through enough and didn't need something that was going to be super complicated so I really enjoyed the connection and banter between her and Brett. I felt like these two really balanced each other out.
I really do like this series and cannot wait to read Hoyt's book, along with hopefully getting glimpses of Nora, Reid, Georgia, and Brett!

About the Author:
Elizabeth Lee
Born and raised in the middle of a Midwestern cornfield (not literally, that would be weird), I’ve spent my entire life imagining stories. Stories where the right guy always gets the right girl, first kisses are as magical as they are on the big screen and anything is completely possible if you believe.

Although this journey began years ago, it recently took on a whole new life. After years of devouring hundreds of Romance, YA and New Adult novels, I had an epiphany... I should write a book. And I did it!

If I’m not reading, writing, enjoying drinks with my amazing group of girlfriends or chasing around a sarcastically funny kid, I’m probably watching television shows that were created for teenagers, while my husband teases that I’m too old to watch them.

Release Day: Missing Dixie by Caisey Quinn

About the Book

Fighting for redemption . . .

I've lived most of my life in darkness, beneath the shadows of secrets and

addictions. The last thing I ever wanted to do was hurt the only girl I'd ever

loved—the one who brought me into the light. In my entire life I'd made one

promise—a promise I'd intended to keep. I've broken that promise and now I

have to live with the fallout. Dixie Lark hates me, and I have to tell her that I

love her. I also have to tell her a truth that might destroy us forever.

Can she love me, even if she can't forgive me?

Learning to move on . . .

Gavin Garrison broke his promise to my brother and he broke my heart in

the process.I may never love anyone the way I've loved him, but at least I

won't spend my life wondering "what if." We had our one night and he

walked away. I'm beginning to move on, but my brother's wedding and a

battle of the bands are about to throw us together again.

Our band is getting a second chance, but I don't know if I can give him one.

How do you hand your heart back to the person who set it on fire once

already?

Prologue

“In the end, we are all just humans…drunk on the idea that love, and only love, can heal

our brokenness.”

-F. Scott Fitzgerald

Gavin

“I need a Michelob Light, two Jack and Cokes, a bourbon on the rocks, and a Sex

on the Beach,” a waitress calls to me over the crowded bar.

“Yes, ma’am,” I shout over the din while filling the order quickly, tossing an

umbrella into the fruity drink and briefly wondering what the hell kind of group orders

such random drinks. It’s an odd number, so probably not a double date.

Once her tray is full, she takes off into the crowd and I take a few more orders

from patrons sitting at the bar. The house band announcing that they’re taking a break

and I’m grateful that the bar is full enough to keep it from being quiet.

Silence has always been my enemy. Hence why I play the drums, the loudest most

deafening musical instrument in existence. They’re the only things that drown out the

sounds in my head. Once my customers and waitresses have been taken care of, I do a

quick wipe down of the bar and restock the highball glasses.

It’s in the brief moment when the pool balls knocking together and the raucous

chatter die down that I hear it.

Someone is playing the piano, the old Wurlitzer that sits abandoned in the back

corner of the Tavern. It’s not the music itself that stops me where I stand. It’s the way it’s

being played. Effortless yet meticulous, a combination that I’ve only known one musician

in my entire life to be capable of.

Glancing in the direction where the melody is drifting from I notice I’m not the

only one mesmerized by the sound. Half the bar has made their way to the back corner to

get a closer listen. My boss, a perpetually red-faced man named Cal, is going to kill me,

but I have to see. I have to know if it’s her. My body propels itself around the bar just as

a voice from my right calls my name, startling me out of my trance.

Turning, I look directly into a pair of gleaming green eyes beneath a perfectly

even bob of blond hair.

Ashley Weisman stands across from me in her pencil skirt and oxford dress shirt

with two too-many buttons undone to be here for professional reasons.

“You’ve been avoiding my phone calls,” she says evenly.

“Been busy.” Huffing out a breath, I place my hand gently on her elbow and

attempt to steer her toward the exit.

Stilettos planted firmly on the liquor-sticky floor, she purses her full red lips at me

and glares into my eyes. “You can’t ignore me forever. I’m your attorney. Besides,

what’s the rush, Gavin? Not even going to offer me a drink? What kind of bartender are

you?”

“One who doesn’t have time for this right now. I’ll call you tomorrow.”

I can’t explain it, but deep in my soul—if I have one that is—I know exactly

who’s playing the piano behind me. I don’t know why she’s here, I don’t know if she

knows I work here, and I sure as hell don’t know if she’ll want to see me. What I do

know is that she and Ashley cannot cross paths right now. Not yet. Not before I’ve told

her everything.

“I think I’ll take the drink now, thank you very much.” Twisting out of my reach,

she hops up onto a barstool and steadily ignores the scowl on my face.

The music continues swirling around us and all I know is right now, I need to

know who is playing that damn piano.

Clenching my fists, I walk around behind the bar and wait for her to tell me what

she wants.

“I’ll have a screaming orgasm, please.” Her eyes gleam and I meet her interested

gaze with a dispassionate one. “Multiples, actually.”

I barely suppress a loud sigh and grab the Bailey’s and a top shelf bottle of vodka.

Once her drink is mixed I set it down in front of her.

“On the house. Feel free to take it and go.”

A frown mars her attractive face. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you in such a hurry

to get rid of me. You have a hot date later?”

I can’t help it, I glance over toward the piano. The music speeds up and so does

my heart rate. The notes call to me like a siren song and I know I won’t be able to keep

myself from barreling over there for much longer.

“The piano player? I saw her when I came in. She’s pretty.”

“You done?” I nod to a newbie bar back named Jake to come get her empty glass

and he does.

“Oh, I see,” she says evenly, watching me carefully. “It’s her, isn’t it? The one

you’re so eager to get your shit together for, huh?”

“I need to get my shit together regardless, Ashley. You know that. How about

helping me do that instead of causing more trouble?”

She frowns as if I’ve insulted her. “I’m not trying to cause trouble. I’m curious.

Pretty sure curiosity isn’t a crime.”

Closing my eyes, I inhale through my nose and exhale out my mouth like the

meetings have taught me. “You know what they say about curiosity.”

Cal walks by and I call out that I’m taking my break. Without waiting for his

response or approval, I move out from behind the bar and make my way through the sea

of bodies separating me from the girl behind the piano. Once I’ve navigated the

treacherous waters, I see her.

It’s smoky in here tonight and several women I’m not familiar with are

surrounding her but I see her sitting there—playing her heart out—and all I can do is

watch.

She doesn’t make music, or create it. She is music. It flows through her as she

plays and it’s an incredible sight to behold.

There she is. My beautiful bluebird.

My stomach tenses and my throat constricts.

She shouldn’t be here.

I shouldn’t be here.

Seeing me here will hurt her and there is nothing I wouldn’t give to prevent that.

Before I can even begin to formulate the words in my mind that I should say to

make this okay, to make it somehow hurt her less, the music stops and she turns as if she

can feel me standing there. Applause breaks out around us but it fades into background

noise.

There isn’t a name for the emotion that crosses her face, darkening her eyes and

causing the fire in them to flare at me. It’s part shock, part betrayal, and complete pain.

My jaw clenches and I force my eyes to remain on hers even though they’d prefer

to close and block out the sight of her wounds deepening.

“Taking requests?” Ashley’s voice calls out from beside me. Her expression says

she’s genuinely impressed by Dixie’s talent but I can guess what my temperamental

Bluebird will see.

Dixie Leigh Lark arches an eyebrow at her and then shoots me a scowl of pure

disgust before answering with a short, “not at the moment.”

“Too bad,” Ashley answers with a shrug.

I step closer to Dixie just as she shoves the piano bench backward, scarping it

across the hardwood floor. Before I can blink, we’re face to face and if looks could kill,

someone would be performing CPR on me in a matter of seconds.

“Dixie, I—”

“Go to hell, Gavin,” is all that escapes her beautiful mouth. Her rage hits me with

the force of a ten-foot plate glass window shattering over me.

I turn to watch her storm out, running a hand over my head and feeling the heat of

several angry glares from other women around me.

Ashley smirks from behind her glass as she polishes off another drink I didn’t

realize she was holding. “Well that escalated quickly.”

Yeah. It did.

I am so fucked.

My Review
Life doesn't always turn out how you expect and sometimes parts of you get broken along the way, but there is always hope and even broken pieces can be rebuilt into something beautiful. My heart is a piece of mosaic art at this point.

Ya'll I just don't even know where to start on this one. Having just finished with tears in my eyes, happy, content tears! don't panic, I just don't even know where to begin.

I have always been up front with my love of Caisey's books. But hand to God this is her absolute best work yet. I fell so fast into this story that it is like I was there living and breathing every moment. Gavin and Dixie have held me captivated since Leaving Amarillo and their story is not one I will ever forget or ever tire of reading.

I won't lie. A lot goes on in this book and half of it is painful and raw. But damn it if isn't beautiful in it's own way through it all. I think I experienced every emotion one could imagine while reading Missing Dixie. There are so many lines in this book that spoke to my soul. I felt these words bone deep. I know that sounds crazy but that is what some books do to me and this was one of them.

I'm a mess of emotions and sad that this book is over. So I know my review is probably just a bunch of rambling but I cannot adequately form the words to give this book justice. This was the perfect conclusion for Dixie and Gavin and not even close to what I expected. I have been blown away!

I am happier because I've known profound sadness, wiser because I've made epic mistakes and learned from them. But I am still standing.

This book to me, deserves more than 5 stars. It is for sure one of my top reads of the year!

SURVIVING ICE Synopsis: The USA TODAY bestselling author of the Ten Tiny Breaths series and Burying Water—which Kirkus Reviews called “a sexy, romantic, gangster-tinged page-turner”—returns with a new novel packed with romance, plot twists, and psychological suspense. Ivy Lee, a talented tattoo artist who spent the early part of her twenties on the move, is looking for a place to call home. She thinks she might have finally found it working in her uncle’s tattoo shop in San Francisco. But all that changes when a robbery turns deadly, compelling her to pack up her things yet again. When they need the best, they call him. That’s why Sebastian Riker is back in California, cleaning up the mess made after a tattoo shop owner with a penchant for blackmail got himself shot. But it’s impossible to get the answers he needs from a dead body, leaving him to look elsewhere. Namely, to the twenty-something-year-old niece who believes this was a random attack. Who needs to keep believing that until Sebastian finds what he’s searching for. Ivy has one foot out of San Francisco when a chance encounter with a stranger stalls her departure. She’s always been drawn to intense men, so it’s no wonder that she now finds a reason to stay after all, quickly intoxicated by his dark smile, his intimidating strength, and his quiet control. That is, until Ivy discovers that their encounter was no accident—and that their attraction could be her undoing.

Excerpt
It’s just a regular ringtone. For me, though, it’s the wail of a war siren, and I’m immediately alert. There is only one person who has this number, and I didn’t expect him to use it again so soon.
The tile is cool against my bare feet as I roll out of bed. I collect the phone from the nightstand with one fluid movement, unhindered by sheets or the morning sluggishness that an average person might face. Stepping through the propped-open patio doors and onto the balcony, I answer with a low, curt “Yeah.” The sky is just beginning to lighten over the quiet bay. Dozens of boats sit moored below, their passengers lulled into deep sleep by the ocean air and rhythmic waves. I’m high enough up that I’m not likely to offend anyone with my lack of clothing, especially at this hour. Not that I’m truly concerned by it.
“Ice.”
The code name is a sharp contrast to the warm breeze skating across my bare skin. My adrenaline begins to spike, all the same. Hearing it means that I will be forced to leave this haven soon. Sooner than I had hoped.
“How is recovery going?”
I instinctively peer down at the angry red scar on the outside of my thigh, where a bullet drilled into my flesh and muscle just three weeks ago, outside of Kabul. I nearly bled out before I made it to the doc. He patched me up on a makeshift operating table, buried deep in a maze of rooms, and charged me a hefty price.
“Like new,” I lie.
“Good.” Bentley’s voice is rich and smooth, a welcome sound in a sea of strangers. “Where are you now?”
I peer out over the beautiful vista of crystal blue water and whitewashed stone buildings, the volcanic rock cliffs in the distance, reluctant to divulge my location. I sank a good chunk of my last payout on renting this one-bedroom villa for the month. It’s my private sanctuary, where I can revel in anonymity and peace for a while, before finding somewhere else to drift to.
Bentley has never asked before.
But he also has the technical capabilities to trace this call. If he really wants to find out, then he will. In fact, the second I picked up, he probably already had his answer. “Where do I need to be?” I say instead.
“San Francisco.”

My Review
This is another great suspenseful read by K.A. Tucker! I loved this book and could not put it down. In true K.A. Tucker fashion we are taken on one suspenseful ride full of unexpected twists and some hot, steamy connections.

Ivy is a tattoo artist that is currently working at her uncle Ned's shop in San Francisco. She's always been one to flit around, never putting down any roots. But she begins to find her place in San Francisco until she witnesses something horrible. Then she is ready to just leave again but then she meets Sebastian and leaving gets pushed back to the back burner.

Sebastian was a great character and while I want to tell you a lot about him, giving you his name was enough for now. I feel like it is best just to go into this as blind as you can and hold on for the ride.

There was never a dull moment in this book and I love love love how much Ivy's talent is mentioned. I loved reading about her designs and found myself trying to visualize them. I really did love this book, Ivy and Sebastian.

4 stars!!!

Cover Reveal: Bait & Switch by Kendall Ryan

NYT Bestselling Author Kendall Ryan brings you a brand new exciting series, Alphas Undone. Each book is a standalone. We are very excited to announce the first book Bait & Switch, which will release on February 9th, 2016.

 Bait & Switch
Alphas Undone Book 1

Love is a trap, a trick only other people fall for. Former Navy SEAL Nolan has no such illusions. The only things real in his life are his beloved bulldog and the two women who regularly share his bed. One is light—soft, innocent, and tender touches. The other is dark—and gives him all of the wicked things he craves behind closed doors. It’s not cheating when each is aware of the other. But when he begins to feel much more than he ever bargained for, the order of his carefully crafted world is shaken, and he stands to lose everything.

Nolan thinks we met by chance. We didn’t. I sought him out, seduced him, and in return got the sanctuary I needed to survive. But now, impossibly, I’ve fallen in love with him. I don’t care that he has another lover, because when he finds out who I am, it’s going to ruin any chance I ever had with him anyway. She’s the least of my worries.

Bait & Switch is Book 1 in a new contemporary romance series by Kendall Ryan.

EXCERPT

“So, how does all this work? Do you mind if I pry a little?” Her cheeks heated slightly, knowing all the questions spinning in her mind. It was one thing to hear about it over drinks the other night, it was quite another to see it with her own eyes.
“Pry away,” he chuckled softly, his hand slowly stroking up and down against her spine.
Awareness zinged through her. It had been a long time since she’d felt a man’s touch. Six months to be exact.
“How did she end up living here with you?”
“I knew her through a mutual acquaintance, and after breaking up with her ex, she needed somewhere to live. I offered my guest room up. Rent free. No strings. And she said yes.”
“That was awfully nice of you.” She blinked at him in wide-eyed astonishment. It wasn’t something many people would do.
“Trust me, I’m very far from being a white knight.” His voice dropped lower, and his hand came to rest at her lower back again. “Our relationship sort of evolved from there.”
He didn’t continue, leaving Lacey to guess if it was some type of BDSM interest that they shared.
“What else is going on inside that pretty head of yours?” he asked.
“H-how did you come to be this way?” She cringed when she realized how it sounded. As though he was damaged goods. Then again, maybe he was. Nolan didn’t even raise an eyebrow to her question.
“After a demanding career as a SEAL …” He let out a deep sigh, gazing down at the courtyard. “My goals are much simpler now – to enjoy life one day at a time and take pleasure where I find it.”
She simply nodded. He didn’t elaborate, but he didn’t need to. Growing up in a family of men who served, she knew he had seen too much, done too much, probably experienced losing teammates he fought beside. She knew it could mess a man up. At the very least, it changed them. And in Nolan’s case, it made him harder and closed him off to the hearts and flowers kind of love she hoped to find someday. He was surviving, in his own way.
“I need to know what you taste like,” Nolan murmured.
She blinked up at him, her eyes still searching his. There was so much she was unsure about, but the electricity buzzing between them wasn’t one of them.
He leaned forward, moving slowly, and brought his lips to hers. Hesitating for just a moment, as if to give her a chance to decide, Nolan’s warm breath ghosted over her mouth. Lifting up onto her tip toes, Lacey touched her lips to his. With one hand stroking her jaw, his other came to settle against her hip, his thumb running along the bare skin at the waistband of her jeans. Nolan pulled her body close, until she felt the hard ridge of him against her belly. He felt massive. Her lips parted in a silent gasp and he stroked his tongue against hers.
His mouth seemed made to fit over hers. And the skillful way he moved his tongue provoked thoughts of what other ways he could use that tongue. While her panties grew wet, and her breathing turned ragged, they kissed deeply for several minutes.
Her hands wandered, running over his firm biceps, and down the front of his shirt where rounded pecs waited invitingly under his shirt.
Sex rolled off of him in waves. No, not just sex. Fucking. Lacey was sure that being intimate with Nolan would be unlike any other experience she’d had. And that excited the hell out of her.
“God damn, woman,” he murmured breaking away from her lips.
Lacey couldn’t disagree. Everything about that kiss felt right. Backgrounds ceased to matter. Messy entanglements forgotten. When she was kissing Nolan, nothing mattered except getting even closer. More, her body begged.
“Just keep an open mind,” he said, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear.

He’s the player of all players…

Newly broke girl Alexandria Asher just wants to live a normal life. After her parents are sent to prison on embezzlement charges, she enrolls in college under her mother’s maiden name and tries her best to pretend she’s someone else.

Tristan Prescott is everything Alex is trying to avoid. A seemingly egotistical, lazy, rich jerk, she dumps her beer on his head when he comes on to her one night at a party. This only spurs Tristan into action. He loves nothing more than a challenge. And the beautiful Alex is exactly the type of challenge that intrigues him.

Despite her reluctance, Alex finds herself quickly involved with Tristan. Underneath that playboy exterior is a good guy, a sweet and sexy guy who she is undoubtedly falling for. What they both don’t realize is the actions of Alex’s parents are the reason for so much tragedy in Tristan’s family. And when Tristan discovers who Alex and her family really is, can he forgive and forget?

My Review
Slow Play was such a good read. Starting out I wasn't sure how I would feel about Tristian. He was a jerk in the other books and the beginning of this one was no different. But instead of pissing me off, it made him more endearing.
Alex is a former rich girl that is now living middle class. She says poor, but I don't see it that way. Anyways- her parents screwed up their and her future and left her broke for the most part. So she moves away to get a new start and takes her moms maiden name. Her plan is to stay away from people that remind her of her old life, but of course that doesn't last long since she becomes friends with Kelli who is friends with Jade and Lucy who are in relationships with Shep and Gabe and of course we cannot forget Tristian. Tristian throws Alex for a loop as soon as they meet and what we are left with is a fun ride full of sexual tension.
Tristian doesn't do relationships. He is just a one and done guy and he's a bit of an asshole. But when he meets Alex he starts rethinking things. I admit there were a lot of times I got mad at Tristian, not for things he would do, but just things he was thinking to himself.
This is very aptly titled because things do move at a slow pace for the first half of the book, but I actually enjoyed it that way and it was believable. These two really clicked no matter how much they tried to fight it. All in all it was a great read and I am really happy with the way things ended!
4 stars!
