BLOG TOUR: Fall Into Forever by Beth Hyland

TITLE: Fall Into Forever
AUTHOR: Beth Hyland
AGE GROUP: NA
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
RELEASE DATE: March 10, 2014

Blurb: Some girls may find guys like Jon exciting and charming. Some are even naive enough to want to date them. But guys like him can harbor dark, dangerous secrets. Secrets you don’t want to know or be involved in. How do you think they got this way in the first place? It’s best to follow your head and stay as far away from them as possible.

Trust me when I say this: Guys like Jon Priestly are nothing but trouble.

Ivy McAllister had it all. Perfect boyfriend. Perfect life. Perfect future. Or so they tell her. Because one night, on a dark country road, a fiery crash changed everything…and Ivy can’t remember what happened.

Now, two years later, at a new college far from home, she tries to regain control of her life, but her plans don’t include a tattooed, motorcycle-riding, indie music-obsessed guy with his own sorority girl fan club.

Jon Priestly is the hottest guy at Pacific State University. Just ask his groupies. But with a dark past he must keep hidden, he shuts himself off emotionally and trusts no one. That is…until he meets a broken girl with haunting green eyes and secrets of her own.

Ivy shouldn’t be attracted to Jon. They’re wrong for each other in every possible way. Yet as they spend time together, something about him—everything about him—feels so right.

But when threats from her past make her question what little she does remember, Ivy must decide whether to run again or trust the one person she can’t live without.

Interesting Facts about Fall Into Forever

Jon’s last name (Priestly) popped into my head at the same time I heard him saying, “I’m no angel.” I thought the contrast was perfect!

At the party where they meet, when Jon falls at Ivy’s feet during the fight and when Ivy climbs out onto the roof, I knew the word Fall had to be in the title.

When Cassidy tells about her little brother visiting her and passing out in public wearing only leopard print underwear, it was based on what happened when my little brother and his friend visited me in college. We still laugh about it.

The book that Ivy references at the beginning about people being constructed from the parts of others is the YA book UNWIND by Neal Schusterman. It’s awesome!

I got to attend the photo shoot for the cover. The female model had the funniest expression on her face when the photographer told her to climb onto the guy’s lap, because the two of them had just met.

When I got an email reply from Christopher Poindexter saying he’d be honored to have his poem in my book, I fangirl-cried, took a pic of the email, and texted it to my daughter. (She and I both love his poetry.)

The fictional Pacific State University is located approximately near Aberdeen, WA (where Kurt Cobain grew up), and is mixture of the cool elements of Western Washington University (to the North) and Oregon State University (to the South).

I became concerned with issues about online safety when a Seattle police officer from the Internet crimes unit spoke to parents at my daughter’s school. The depravity of some people is sickening.

PSU Net, where students vote for the movie being shown free around campus all month, is based on Oregon State’s Beaver-Net.

When everyone meets outside Explorer Stadium before the start of the zombie race, I was envisioning a similar atmosphere (minus the zombies) outside OSU’s Reser stadium when I ran in the Corvallis Half Marathon last year.

I got the idea for a zombie race on campus because 1) I’ve always wanted to run in one and 2) they have a Humans vs. Zombies event on the OSU campus, pitting humans against zombies. You’re never safe. You must always be on guard.

My Review
Ivy and Jon's story was pretty fast paced. I liked the chemistry between these two and how at ease they seemed to make each other. I liked the fact that there was no games between them either. They were for the most part pretty straight with each other. The few times they weren't I didn't feel any build up so it wasn't hard for them to be apart. There is some darkness but it doesn't over take the story like I was expecting. Overall it was a good quick read!

Blurb: From the New York Times Best Selling Author of the Accidentally On Purpose trilogy… “You were born to be mine and I was born to be yours.” Donya Stewart’s chest filled with the soft beating wings of butterflies when she first met Emmet Grayne’s green eyes at the ripe age of five. Tethered Excerpt:
"I whirl around and rush towards the exit. It’s January, in Chicago no less, but I feel hot and my palms are sweaty. It feels very stuffy in here and I am having difficulty breathing. I promise myself I won’t turn around and look. There is no reason to look. I won’t look. I’m only a few feet from the door. I turn my head and look. It is as if there is a magnet that draws my eyes to his exact location every time I say I will not look. If I have looked in the past and he was not in my immediate eye sight, I may have turned away and been okay, but that never happens. My eyes always find him right away. He looks stunning in his tuxedo. His deep blue bowtie hangs to one side and his shirt is unbuttoned a few buttons, revealing the beginning contours of what I know to be a well-defined chest. His dark hair is a little on the long side. Hair falls across his forehead. It’s sexy. His wife hates it. She must not like running her fingers through it. His hands are in his pockets as he speaks. He looks casual and relaxed. I look away and escape the crushing pressure of the room. I dig into the little purse strapped to my wrist and get my ticket for my coat. I thrust the piece of paper at the guy behind the counter and he retrieves my coat a few seconds later. I walk out of the building and away from the few people outside who also dared the cold. I follow a walkway until I find myself on the other side of the building, facing what is probably a very gorgeous garden in the warmer months. It was still pretty, even under the ice and snow. I look around and am relieved to find myself alone. The sun is setting. The lampposts are flickering to life. It is cold as cold can be out here, but I needed to get out of there.

Nixon
I checked the time on my cell and leaned against the wall. The desert heat was not in any way helping my already-tense mood and irritated disposition. A guy walked by, flicking his cigarette into the dirt. Note to self: you know you're tense as hell when you’re halfway tempted to grab said cigarette and suck the nicotine dry from the remains.
And I didn’t even smoke.
Shhhit.
My head hurt, my muscles were sore, and Trace was pissed. I closed my eyes and leaned back against the building.
“Hey there.” A flirty voice interrupted my self-inflicted torture session. I opened one eye, then two. A blond-haired girl in six-inch heels and something I can only assume at one point use to be a shirt, hanging over her shoulder, walked into my personal space. Her shirt-dress thing barely met her thighs.
“Yes?” I kept my sunglasses on. If I took them off and glared, she’d probably run screaming down the street, and I wasn’t into scaring females… at least not in that way. I knew I looked downright pissed as hell.
“Just thought you looked lonely.” She lifted her shoulder and offered a teasing smile. Did that really work on other guys?
“You thought wrong,” I said simply. “I’m holding the wall up — like Samson.”
“Samson?” She looked around as if waiting for another man to appear.
“From the Bible,” I clarified.
“The what?”
“Gotta love Vegas,” I muttered under my breath. “Look, I don’t want any.”
“Any what?” She ran a manicured nail down my chest, biting down on her lip at the same time. I could only imagine her point was to get me to stare at her lips, but all I felt was irritation. Damn Chase and Mil. I just wanted to go to bed, but I needed to talk with him before tomorrow.
“Sex.” My voice clipped. “I. Don’t. Want. Any.”
“But—” She twirled a piece of blond- hair in her fingers.
“I’m gay.”
“Right.” She snorted.
“I’m into men.”
“Oh really?” She closed the distance between us. Just as I was ready to seriously put my hands on her and push, I felt an arm wrap around my shoulder.
“Hey there, hot stuff.” Tex said in a low voice as his hand grabbed my ass, cupping it with a little too much enthusiasm. “You ready?”
I ground my teeth together and forced a smile. “Yup.”
“Oh…” The girl stepped back. “Um, sorry, you guys, uh, enjoy your night.” She pushed past Tex so fast I was afraid she was going to teeter off her heels and get hit by a taxi.
“Tex.” I seethed.
“Hmm?” He took off his sunglasses and tilted his head as the girl hurried away.
“You can take your hand off my ass now.”
“Why? Afraid you like it too much?”
I pushed against him.
“Just embrace your feelings!” He shouted, earning the attention of a family walking by with their two little kids.
I grabbed him by the front of his shirt and threw him few feet away from me, trying my damnedest not to smile.
“Admit it. You keep me around for comic relief.” Tex nodded with a smirk.
“I admit nothing.” I lost the war against smiling and started laughing. “But I do keep your ass away from Campisi, so remember that next time you start yelling about me being your lover.”
“True.” Tex grinned. “Oh, and P.S., don’t knock it till you try it.”
“P.S.,” I repeated in the same voice. “Still pissed at you for screwing over my sister.”
“Yeah well.” Tex sobered. “It’s for the best.”
“Breaking her heart and bringing in whores is what’s best for her?”
Tex lifted his hands into the air. “Look, I didn’t say my methods were sound or that they were intelligent, just let us deal with it, okay? We’re big kids.”
“Kids.” I snorted. “That about sums it up.”
A town car pulled up next to the curb. Chase got out and then held out his hand to Mil. My eyes narrowed; she looked different. Happier.
Her mom had just died, and she'd survived a bombing.
And she was smiling like the Taliban had just declared world peace.
Chase gripped her so tight that I saw the white of his knuckles.
I tilted my head, still watching them when Tex said. “Dude, you get laid?”
“Tex,” I snapped. “Go get something for their luggage.”
“But—”
“Go.”
Tex flipped me off, but ended up jogging over to the main entrance while I inspected both Mil and Chase. “I’m not saying this to be an ass—”
“Here we go.” Mil crossed her arms.
Chase waited.
I licked my lips and tried to appear indifferent. “But if you guys start screwing each other now, I may have to shoot one or both of you. It’s not the time to play house, got it?”
“Play house,” Chase repeated in a deadpan voice as he dipped his free hand into his back pocket, most likely clenching a pair of brass knuckles.
“I know it’s your honeymoon,” I continued. “But this [P1] little scenario you’ve got going on with the whole hot and cold is going to have to wait until everyone’s safe. So Chase, keep it in your pants for once in your life, and Mil, stop trying to seduce the poor kid, alright? It’s like dangling a damn fry in front of a seagull.”
“Who’s a fry?” Tex asked, pulling the luggage cart with him.
“Mil.”
“Are we eating dinner or something? Because I have to admit,” Tex leaned against the cart, “I’m freaking starving.” He eyed Chase and Mil. “Then again, I’m sure you both are too. All those extracurricular really take it out of ya.”
Chase took off his sunglasses, his face twisting in irritation and annoyance, no smile. Nothing. He was pissed.
“Chase,” I said slowly. “You know I’m right. You’re the best I have. I need your focus to be on The Family. Your family. Then you can screw all you want, okay?”
Mil looked like she wanted to punch me in the face. Chase took a step forward, but she stopped him.
“Good talk.” I exhaled. “Chase, I’ll see you down in the bar in a half-hour, okay? We have business to discuss. Mil, you can go find the girls. They’re having dinner out by the pool.”
Nobody moved.
After a few seconds of tense silence where I was pretty sure Chase was trying to convince himself not to strangle me to death, Tex cleared his throat and pointed to the luggage. “You guys need help, then?”
“Yeah,” Chase croaked. “Thanks.”
We loaded them up and sent them on their way.
“Tell me,” Tex asked once we were walking back toward the bar. “Is your only goal to see how far you can push Chase before he kills you in your sleep?”

Jennifer Domenico
Jennifer Domenico started writing as a five-year old child in the back of her mother’s bible in church. It was a way to keep the fidgety child quiet but even then she took simple stories and twisted them into even more imaginative tales. As she grew, the stories grew with her and she filled notebook after notebook with her musings.

As an adult, she knew she wanted to be a writer but she lacked the attention span and inspiration required to produce a full length story. Eventually she put away her notebooks and turned her attention to the business world where she toiled away for many years.

She stopped reading fiction, stopped entertaining her outlandish imagination, and stopped dreaming of being a writer. Until one day, many months ago she went to sleep and a beautiful love story played out in her dreams.

When she awoke she felt compelled to write it down. And she wrote and she wrote, for days and days she wrote. The result is part one of Enzo and Ava’s story. Turn Towards the Sun is her first, but certainly not her last, novel.

Ms. Domenico lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her very Italian husband, a dog that adores her, two cats that tolerate her, and wicked sweet tooth. She is currently working on part two in the series.

About CD Reiss CD Reiss
CD Reiss is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets. Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did embed TV story structure in her head well enough for her to take a big risk on a TV series structured erotic series called Songs of Submission. It’s about a kinky billionaire hung up on his ex-wife, an ingenue singer with a wisecracking mouth; art, music and sin in the city of Los Angeles. Critics have dubbed the books “poetic,” “literary,” and “hauntingly atmospheric,” which is flattering enough for her to put it in a bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she’s some sort of braggart who’s too good to give the toilets a once-over every couple of weeks or chop a cord of wood. If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

REVIEW: Missing Pieces by Nicola Haken

                                                 Missing Pieces

Blurb:Seventeen-year-old Maddie Davis has spent her whole life on the move. With an unstable mother who has a knack for making bad decisions, she’s never stayed in one place long enough to remember its postcode. But this time is different… This time, she has been dragged half way across the world. Arriving in California and being forced to go back to school feels like stepping back in time. She wants to go home…
Until she meets Blaine Elwood – the stepson of an old family friend.
Blaine appears to have it all. To the outside world, quarterback Blaine is rich, confident and has the ‘arrogant bad boy’ image down to a tee. But nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors. Nobody ever can. He has vowed never to let anyone get too close – let anyone discover how weak he is. So when new girl Maddie starts tugging at strings he didn’t know existed in his heart, his only option is to push her away…
Until he realizes how much he needs her.
Together, after being forced into adulthood from an early age, they begin to learn what it feels like to be young – to smile, to laugh… to love. So when shattered secrets and splintered lies start unraveling around them, will the trust they’ve worked so hard to build be irreparably destroyed? Or will they realize they are two pieces of the same broken puzzle?

My Review
I'm a little loss for words... This book took a turn I didn't expect, even though it broke my heart it made the book better. Different. I never expected Blaine's secrets to be what they were. I can't breathe thinking about it!

Maddie is swept up and moved to a new country by her mom. Her mom has some serious issues and Maddie has had to grow up fast to take care of her. With that being said, you can tell her mom loves her. And I think she moves them to America for them both. Anyways, her mom's old friend, Trudy, lives in California with her wealthy husband and has told Annie(Maddie's mom) that she will help them. My heart hurt when reading all that Maddie went through with her mom and school. I loved Lori though! An Jason! They helped add some humor in the story at the right time.

Blaine. Oh, Blaine. I don't even know where to begin with him. I don't want to give anything away so I will leave his story up to you to find out. It's unexpected though! The way he is with Maddie is great! Well when he's not being a dick. Again, you will have to see :)

Aside from trying to figure out some of the English terms, I really enjoyed this story. I laughed, I cried, and I smiled.
"We're like two missing pieces of the same broken puzzle, lish. I've always felt hollow- incomplete. But when we're together everything makes sense. Everything just... fits, you know? You're it for me, Maddie. You're my missing piece."

4 Stars!!!!

On his back, muscles bared, bound, and stretched the full length of the box, he was an erotic picture. She was a criminal, and as ashamed as she was by that, the disgusting, fucked-up part of her anticipated spending the next ten weeks touching every inch of this man.
She dragged her gaze from his body to his face, and guilt slammed into her.
He stared up at her with so much pain in his eyes. “Don’t hurt my parents.”
Her gut twisted. She knew that pain, lived it every day. She leaned in, lips hovering a breath away, and repeated what Mr. E had said to her. “That’s up to you.”
Resolve hardened his face. She knew that emotion, too. Her time in the box was permanently carved in memory, which had made Van’s threats of returning her there an effective form of control in her training.
Tendrils of resentment coiled around her throat. To dwell on her or the boy’s predicament would only bring irresponsible hesitation. So she did what she always did to distract her thoughts.
She reached into the cold place inside her, searching for something yearning she could sing with dispassion. The beginning verses of “What It Is” by Kodaline fell past her lips and shivered through the room. She sang with an icy pitch as she removed a blindfold from the trunk by the box and tied it over his wide, glaring eyes.
To deprive smell, a swimmer’s nose plug went on next. He could breathe through his mouth, and the cracks in the box allowed airflow, but it wouldn’t feel that way to him once she shut the lid.
The skin on his face was hot and damp, the muscles beneath jerking against her fingers. She continued to sing as she cuffed headphones over his ears, plugged them into the tablet outside of the box, and activated the timer. Twenty minutes of heart-hammering silence.
The music in her voice strangled, stopped. Twenty minutes alone with his thoughts. Then the misery would begin.
“It’s just the way it is,” she murmured with an ache in her throat.
His body was motionless, but she didn’t miss the goosebumps creeping across his skin or the slight tremor in his cheeks. The sudden desire to comfort him drew her closer, bending her at the waist, until her mouth brushed his, softly, unjustly. His lips pulled away in a quiver that she felt throughout her body.
She straightened and rubbed her breastbone, unable to soothe the ache beneath it. “I’m so sorry.” A whisper, too low to pass through the earphones.
Then she closed the lid.

My Review

Well damn. This is the first Pam Godwin book I have read and I can guarantee it will not be a last. This book brought out so many feelings and emotions that I didn't expect. My morals were tested with this book. Things I thought I knew, how I would react, were changed. I don't want to give anything away because honestly the best bet is to jump into the book head first. I literally could not put this book down. In fact I stayed up until I finished it.

Liv is nothing like I had expected. An I am glad. She was strong and weak all at once. I wanted to hate her, I really did. But I just couldn't. The lines between right and wrong became blurred. Usually things are black or white, but not in this story. All I could see was gray area. My heart ached for her. Put in her position, I can't help but think I would do the same thing.

Joshua is one of my favorite male characters I think. Not because of the typical book boyfriend reasons though. He really is the epitome of a strong character. He is everything good and yet naughty. His will alone is beautiful. I felt myself hurting for him and all the things going through his mind.

This is an extremely dark but beautiful story. This book will have you on the edge of your seat. Wondering where Pam Godwin will take you next. The twist and turns in this book will have you scrambling to the next page desperate for more. The captive/captor relationship will mess with your head so much that you find yourself confused on what you're supposed to be feeling. Things you think you know, will go out the window. This book has molested my morals, but I like it.

My Review
Fantastic conclusion to Savannah and Tate's story! I'm not even sure where to start. So many things happened in this book. To say I wanted to knock some sense into these two is a bit of an understatement! I say this because I love them though.  I wanted everything to be perfect for these two so much that anytime there was lack of communication I felt like I was there with them. Just wanting them to be quiet for just one second. Poor Tanzi and Jack, having to put up with these two stubburn people. :)
Anyways- I think I got a little off topic :) Breathe Again picks up where Breathless left us, well two months after to be exact. Tate and Savannah's relationship is still strained from everything that happened in New York. My heart ached for both Tate and Savannah. This book was a rollercoaster of emotions for me! These two just couldn't seem to catch a break. God love Tate, his cockiness and his insecurities. and then  Sav with her stubburness. The love these two have for each other is so fierce that it is almost as if they are terrified of it and in order to protect their hearts they end up behaving pretty irrational. Now I say this and it may sound like a rant BUT it isn't. I just became so wrapped up in this story that I was living it with them. They became my best friends, so I wanted them to clear everything up and put it all on the table. To stop unnecesarrily hurting.

The thing that I loved the most about this book? Seeing Savannah and Tate grow. Not together but individually. They grew up. I have to say Rachel Brookes knows how to wreck havoc on your emotions though. Just when I thought things were turning around I hit Part Two. Then she yanked the rug out from under me! So many things happen that I feel like if these two would have just opened up to each other, they could have been avoided. But we have all been there before. We have all been insecure at some point in our lives. In those insecure moments we lose all rational thinking. The things we think and do during those times, are the same things we laugh about later..maybe. Well, Savannah and Tate were no exception when it came to irritational anger and thinking. As much as an up and down, side to side, hell even round and round stuff that went on through this story we are reminded that life is tough, sometimes the rough times are just there so when the times comes we are able to recognize the great times. I think everything that happened in their story no matter how painful was necessary to make them who they are. What they can be. This ending could not have been more fitting.  I am going to miss this group: Tate, Savannah,Tanzi,Jake and even a few other surprise ones! This story is titled so properly because sometimes you need to be reminded to Breathe Again.

About The Author
rachel
Rachel Brookes is from a coastal town on the east coast of Australia where beaches, kangaroos and surfers roam free. She writes angsty love stories with a pinch of craziness, a dash of drama, a cup of romance and a spoonful of sexiness… oh and the main ingredient hot guys. Rachel sometimes forgets to eat, sometimes forgets to sleep and sometimes can’t remember the last time she cleaned her apartment but that’s because she is in a long term relationship with her laptop and is constantly writing. When she does step away from her laptop she can be found taking too many photos, making scrumptious cocktails, laughing at Adam Sandler movies and spending her time with her amazing family and friends. With her first novel, Just Breathe, due to be released in July 2013, her dream of releasing a book will become reality. With another three books already taking up her mind, she cannot wait to start this crazy ride.

As a standoff of epic proportions began between Chelsea and me. My hackles rose, and I knew I would never back down from her. I wasn’t a revengeful person, but as soon as someone starts hurting the people I care about and throwing around half-arsed accusations, they will see the wrath of Savannah. This could be the very reason I chose to have limited female friends. It was easier than having to deal with the bullshit games girls were notorious for starting, and clearly this was why I never hid my intentions when it came to men in the past. Be clear as day and no feelings came to the surface. I felt Mr. Davenport sigh beside me and I swallowed hard. Professional, Savannah. For him. I still didn’t back down as I spoke. “So I am assuming the—” “Um, excuse me? I was told that I needed to be here.” Our heads snapped to the door opening slowly, and I couldn’t believe who I was looking at, could this day get any weirder? Blake freaking Ryan had just walked through the door looking all rock star-ish. This was the first time we had seen each other since he had left New York for London. His eyes widened to the size of saucers as he took everything in. Dressed head to toe in black, he was wearing a shirt that sat snug against his body, and his tattoos were glistening under the boardroom lights. He was born to be a rock star. His eyes bounced between Tate and me and dropped to my hand gripped tightly in Tate’s and a smile tugged at his lips. Tate’s body stiffened against mine and his hand squeezed mine to the point of hurt like he was making his claim on me. “Stop it,” I hissed and shot him a pleading look. “Sorry, just habit,” he whispered then peppered my jaw with a kiss. “Thanks for coming in, Blake.” Mr. Davenport shuffled papers on the large conference table and looked towards Blake, holding out a pen and what looked to be a contract. “So you have been booked for the shoot next week and we are now just finalizing details. Savannah will be running the shoot on behalf of Beautify and Chelsea will be the female model for the campaign. If you can just sign here, we are good to go.” Blake shook his head and shot a disgusted look at Chelsea. “Are you serious? I can’t work with her.” “See? I told you, Savannah. Even Blake doesn’t want to work with you in your pathetic little fairytale world you are supposedly living in,” Chelsea spat before she threw her straw-looking hair over her shoulder and strutted towards Blake. I watched Blake closely; the look sweeping over his face was priceless. “I wasn’t talking about Savannah, you idiot. I cannot work with you, Chelsea. I tend to not want to associate with fucked-up, conniving bitches.” I couldn’t hide the smile of victory tugging on my lips. Blake Ryan, you genius. The look of utter devastation Chelsea was wearing made me feel like a million bucks. I still had no clue of the history that Chelsea and Blake shared. “Well isn’t this going to be a fun shoot,” Mr. Davenport mumbled under his breath.
