Release Day: Be My December by Rachel Brookes

Title: Be My December
Author: Rachel Brookes
Release Date: August 28th
 Genre: Contemporary Romance

Blurb:

I knew the exact moment I’d become a ‘yes’ girl.

December 16th, a cold winter’s night, four years ago.

The night my innocence was stolen, the night I made the mistake of saying no—a mistake I’d never make again.

The dream of a ‘happily ever after' was now a locked away myth. I promised myself that I’d never return to the place of my worst nightmare, that I’d never let anyone get close, but then again, I never thought I’d meet someone like him.

The intense, confident and beautiful Ky Crawford.

I had no plans to become someone’s Prince Charming.

I couldn’t be. I refused to be. My plan was simple—do whatever it takes to correct my biggest mistake, my one regret that now controlled my life.

I was on track. I had plans, but then everything changed when I saw her—the girl in the red jacket, the girl who I was told couldn’t say no.

The reserved yet stunning Eden Rivers.

A girl who can’t say no.
A guy who craves redemption.
A chance encounter?

It all comes down to this.
One question.
One month.

Be My December?

My Review
This book is so different from Ms. Brookes' other books. But I loved it!

Eden had her life and choice ripped away from her. And like some victims it took over her life. Four years gone. Of pretending everything is okay. To agreeing to anything that comes her way. Saying yes is easy. Saying no has consequences. Eden was such an easy character to feel for. All her fears made sense and her actions were odd but also fitting. And once she broke out of her shell she was amazing and full of life.

Ky was also a pretty easy guy to connect with. He really is a knight in shining armor but he is also real. You can feel all of his emotions come through the pages as you read. His regret, his guilt, and how much he cares for Eden.

I really loved how easily they connected. And how easily Eden was able to become friends with Ashlyn and Josh. Ky was a sweetheart, too. And what he does for Eden is beautiful. I try not to have spoilers so I will leave it here.  Be My December is not one to be missed.

**Please keep in mind this book deals with issues that some may be uncomfortable with. But Rachel handles it very well.*

Blog Tour: Summer's Temptation by Ashley Lynn Willis

Title: Summer's Temptation
Author: Ashley Lynn Willis
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance
Series: Vandeveer University #1

If there are only three truths in life, they are these. Women will always try to change a man. Men will always say anything to get a girl in bed. Tyler Mason will always have a long line of girls trying to domesticate him, and none will succeed. If one of these ceases to be true, the world will cease to exist.

These are the rules as college student Cassie Faye knows them, so when she gives up on dating in favor of a man who can satisfy her without tempting her heart, her next-door neighbor Tyler tops the list. Tyler isn’t the type of boy Cassie would fall for, but he’s the perfect guy to teach her how to claim her sexual independence without losing her heart in the process. Too late, Cassie finds out that under his womanizing exterior is an attentive, considerate lover who brings out passions in her that she'd barely glimpsed before.

What if she’s wrong about the third truth? What if the world as she knows it is about to cease to exist?

My Review
" You can't get emotionally attached to a dildo.".... "A dildo won't leave you for another vagina either."

To all of us that have ever been screwed over, truer words have never been spoken. Cassie has been screwed over by her now ex Wyatt. She still has needs though and goes to the sex shop to get something to fulfil those needs. I think this was one of the funniest scenes in the book and because of it I was hooked instantly. I was so pulled into this story that I didn't want to put it down. I just have to say I loved the relationship Cassie had with Liz and Hannah. Those girls cracked me up!
Tyler is the guy on campus that all these type of books have. I'm not complaining though. We always fall in love with that guy and I'm pretty sure he had me from Hello. Manwhore. That is the best way to say what Tyler is. Hot. Smart. Playful. Sexy. Those are some other ways to describe him though. My favorite thing about this book is the chemistry between these two wasn't forced or surprising. It had a very natural feel to it. Things progressed in such a real way.
Cassie decides to have a one night stand and Tyler is the perfect person. He's a manwhore and completely opposite of what Cassie is looking for long term. So he has fuck buddy written all over him. There was some little surprises through the book that I liked and then a few that I am sure were supposed to be sweet but almost bordered on creepy. I was happy with the way things turned out though and I didn't want to stop reading about them just yet. . I just hope we get more a look into Tyler's past. With that said I am for sure looking forward to the next book!

Release Week Blitz: Vanquish by Pam Godwin

Warning: Graphic sex and violence. Age 18+ only
It is recommended to read after Deliver, but it can be read as a stand-alone.

Her life is like a prison cell.
A self-made, to-hell-with-the-free-world existence that locks from the inside.
Stop judging. Her agoraphobia doesn’t define her. It simply keeps her safe.

He belongs in a prison cell.
The 6x8, make-me-your-bitch variety that locks from the outside.
But he’s free. To hunt. To take. To break.
And he just found a sexy new toy.

Capturing her is the easy part. Her fucked-up mind, however, makes him question everything he does next.
But he’s a determined bastard. If all goes his way, this will hurt like hell.

He stalked toward her, mirroring the tilt of her head, knees and shoulders loose, and his gaze holding her prisoner. A breath away, he paused, soaking in the subtleties of her tipped-up chin, parting lips, and glossy but resolute eyes.

With the next breath, he launched, hands on her jaw, fingers spread around the back of her head.

His elbows dropped, shoulders raised, and he yanked her to him, lifting her on tiptoes, guiding her mouth, taking it. His grip twisted through her hair as he drew in her upper lip and shoved her against the fridge, following her with the weight of his body.

The kiss went fucking wild, their lips mashing in a frantic battle. His tongue plunged her mouth, attacking, thrusting in and out, possessing her movements, owning her. Breath for breath, lick after lick, he ate at her mouth, tasting, devouring.

He dropped his hands to her breasts, squeezing ruthlessly as he rolled his cock against her cunt.

His tongue tingled, his skin burned, and his head swam. God, she was a drug, and he was so fucking high.

She gripped his biceps, bit at his lips, and threw her arms over his shoulders, her fingers scratching the fuck out his back. He shuddered, loving it, but he was in control.

Reaching back, he grabbed her wrists and slammed them above her head. Their bodies ground together, his forearms pressing hers to the fridge, their tongues dancing and clashing. Chest-to-chest, hips fused together, he flexed his ass, dry humping her like a horny teenager.

Jesus, fuck, he didn't care. He wanted her.

He leaned back to study her face and found strong smoldering eyes, sharp breaths, and swollen wet lips. Whatever she saw in his expression made her mouth chase his and her fingers curl around his hands. They kissed endlessly, fueling the fire and pushing his control long past the point of discomfort before pulling back and starting all over again.

When he broke the kiss with a hand on her jaw, they panted as one, mouths open and so close their bottom lips brushed. She peered at him through lowered lashes, and he stared back in awe. What trembled between them wasn't an if? Or even a how hard? Those were foregone. The question they shared was simple.

Ready?

My Review
Well I never thought I would feel any sympathy for Van.. But somehow, unbelievably so I do feel bad for him! Am I going to move him on to my book boyfriend shelf? No. BUT it's because I believe it takes a certain type of person to be the one for him. That brings us to Amber. She is a shut in and has several different mental disorders. Agrophopia, OCD, and bulmia. Even though it's not mentioned I would guess she has a little bit of body dysmorphic disorder.

I was really shocked at the dynamic between these two. Van evolved from this horrible person that he use to be. I really never thought it was possible. I am still a little disgusted with him but the way he was with Amber changed the way I looked at him. This was nowhere near a sweet story at all but was gritty and erotic. I didn't love it as much as I loved Deliver. But I will continue to read more by Pam Godwin. I like her writing style and the fact that she challenges my beliefs with every story.

Excerpt:

Dressed in a pair of black sweats and matching tank, she seemed underdressed as Evan wore only a pair of blue running shorts and sneakers. “Hey.” She shouted as she caught up to him. Annoyed, Evan took out one of his ear pods while he continued to run. “What is it?” he asked. “Just haven’t had a chance to talk to you; wanted to see how you were doing. We’ve never formally met. I’m Hayley.” “I know. Good to meet ya.” He told her. “So, do you usually run with contestants?” he asked. “Only the ones I want to get to know.” She could feel him looking at her. His blue eyes glimmered with devilish intent. “Well, this is a five mile run. Think you can hang, pretty girl?” he mocked. Her eyes grew wide as she watched his shirtless torso. His broad shoulders already had beads of sweat running down his arms and over his six pack abs. “I’ll keep up as best as I can.” she said on an exhale.

My Review
When I first signed up for this book, I wasn't aware it was a novella. I think I read it in about 30 minutes. I was excited because it was about an MMA fighter and what girl doesn't love reading about a hot MMA fighter? I have to say I really loved the idea of this book, but I don't feel like the story was developed enough for me. A lot is crammed into a short amount of pages. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed it and I think if this was turned into a full blown book then it would be great. But since it wasn't and for the reasons I listed above it was just okay. I think that those of you that really enjoy short stories will love this one. I could go more into the plot for this review but the Blurb really sums it up perfectly.

I love 2 men. I want 2 men. If you think you’ve heard this story before, trust me – you haven’t

My Review

Wow. I think this is my favorite book Alessandra Torre has written. I didn't want it to end. When I first started reading, from the Prologue, part of me wondered if it was going to be similar to Sex.Love.Repeat. But I was way off. Yes, it involves being in love with two men and essentially screwing both. And yes, I found myself loving both. But the similarities end there. The plot of this book was amazing.

Go ahead. Judge me. You have no idea what my love entails.

I love two men.
I fuck two men.

If you think you've heard this story before, you haven't.

Let me just take a minute to say how much I love Alessandra's writing. I don't know how she does it. But whenever I read one of her books it's like I become part of the story. It doesn't even feel like I am reading it. She has a way of making you feel like you are living it. That you are the one having these thoughts, telling the story. Does that make sense? Or do I sound a little crazy? Either way that's how I felt reading Black Lies.

This book has more than one or two things that draw you in, it's a multitude of things. Every twist and turn in this book had me on the edge of my seat. Trying to figure out Brant's secret. Dying to learn more about Lee.Trying to see if I could guess who Layana would choose. Then after guessing the secret and then having it confirmed so many more questions arose. Black Lies is so much more than an Erotica book. There is sex. Hot steamy sex.The sex plays an important role in the book. But the story is so much more. This book had so many twists and turns and surprises. This isn't anything you are expecting. Word of advice, if you think this isn't your type of book because of what it entails give it a chance. You may be surprised to see that you love it.

True love makes a person reckless, makes them take risks and make sacrifices. True love tests the boundaries of our person, makes us yearn to be better and fight for the ground we stand on. I will fight for this love. Lie for it. Steal for it. It is worthy of that.
