ABOUT IT ENDS WITH US:
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all-too-human characters, It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.

My Review

Initially, I wrote my review as soon as I finished this book. This is typically, what I do. I like to write a review with the story fresh and my emotions raw. I will probably leave that part of my review attached to this one. Because in the light of day, I see that I need to, no, have to, write a proper review. I have read a lot of great books, a lot of them stay with me, but this one I know will stay with me forever. This is a completely new Colleen Hoover right here. CoHo, has always been good at pulling at our heartstrings and creating stories that speak to some part of our hearts. But this one blows all of those out of the water. I have a major book hangover and I cannot stop thinking about this story and these characters. This book is not a typical love story and even though people seem to think it is a love triangle, it isn’t even close to one. It really saddens me that someone would skip this book just because they think it’s your typical romance book with a triangle because it isn’t. This is a story of a courageous and strong woman. This is empowering and it does talk about the ultimate love. That type of love that makes you protect it at all costs.

Colleen had once said that this book wasn’t written in ink, but in blood. No truer statement than that one right there. I know that with the way this one broke my heart, seriously it hurts, that it must have shattered her to write this one. I went through so many emotions. I loved this book from the very beginning. I fell in love with these characters and then they broke my heart. Lily is my favorite female lead ever. Because she is real, and I love her. I love her for all of the choices she had to make and at the same time my heart breaks for her. I want to talk about Ryle and Atlas, but I just can’t. I cannot risk spoiling any part of this story. In a way I hate that I love it so much because it hurts. Thinking about this book makes me want to cry all over again. CoHo made me fall in love, broke my heart, and then pieced me back together. But I am hanging on by a thread.  This is her best work, y’all. A whole new level.

****Below is my initial review. It is jumbled thoughts, but so very accurate.****
I know I say this every time I read a CoHo book, but this one, this one, is the best. I will be completely honest, I went into this one not knowing what to expect. I thought we would get the typical triangle, and angst. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE those stories, but this book was so amazingly different than what I thought it was going to be. I want to divulge in everything that happened because I feel like my heart is still breaking, but I refuse to ruin this book for anyone. I am completely heartbroken, and yet, happy with the way things turned out. CoHo is fantastic at writing a story that drags you in and pulls at your emotions, but this one takes the cake. So much so that I forgot I was even reading a book she wrote, does that make sense? Instead, I almost felt like I was living every moment, every word, every emotion. You know you have read a damn good book when YOU feel like it was your life and that YOU are shattered, even if you have never experienced half of what happens, you become so fused with the characters that you feel their happiness, and their pain.

I promise I am done going on and on and on. I wish I could give this a proper review. I really do. But as you can clearly see, I ramble, a lot, and I just cannot let myself ramble and ruin anything. This is one of those books, you know what books I’m talking about, that you have to go in blind. If not it will ruin the whole book. All I can say is that everyone needs to read this, male or female. Married or not married. This is so much more than what you are thinking it is.

***An ARC was given in exchange for my HONEST review, and my review is honest, like I had to get up out of bed after finishing to write this review honest. Thank you!***
If I could give this book more than 5 stars, then I would!

Blog Tour: Swear on This Life by Renee Carlino

ABOUT SWEAR ON THIS LIFE:

From USA TODAY bestselling author Renée Carlino (Before We Were Strangers), a warm and witty novel about a struggling writer who must come to grips with her past, present, and future after she discovers that she’s the inspiration for a pseudonymously published bestselling novel.

When a bestselling debut novel from mysterious author J. Colby becomes the literary event of the year, Emiline reads it reluctantly. As an adjunct writing instructor at UC San Diego with her own stalled literary career and a bumpy long-term relationship, Emiline isn’t thrilled to celebrate the accomplishments of a young and gifted writer.

Yet from the very first page, Emiline is entranced by the story of Emerson and Jackson, two childhood best friends who fall in love and dream of a better life beyond the long dirt road that winds through their impoverished town in rural Ohio.

That’s because the novel is patterned on Emiline’s own dark and desperate childhood, which means that “J. Colby” must be Jase: the best friend and first love she hasn’t seen in over a decade. Far from being flattered that he wrote the novel from her perspective, Emiline is furious that he co-opted her painful past and took some dramatic creative liberties with the ending.

The only way she can put her mind at ease is to find and confront “J. Colby,” but is she prepared to learn the truth behind the fiction?

My Review

I LOVED this story!
Emiline is a writer who had a tough childhood, but it's something she doesn't talk about to anyone. In fact, she just doesn't even think about it anymore. Until her roommate Cara starts reading this new book by author J. Colby. Cara tells Emi that she HAS to read this book because it's so good. But when Emi dives in she realizes this book is HER story. Jase her childhood best friend and first love wrote a book about their childhood.

This was done so uniquely, and in my opinion, was executed flawlessly! This book is two books in one and both books are 5 stars! I feel like I could go on and on about this book and everything Emi and Jase go through and how it shapes who they become. But I would rather you dive in and become lost to their story and their heartbreaks. This book is one that makes you think about fate and whether or not you are just fighting against it. This was brilliant!

This is the first book I have read by Renee Carlino, though I have plenty on my TBR, and it will not be my last!

5 STARS!!!!!

Review Tour: Hitched Vol 3 by Kendall Ryan

FB Banner for Series

Hitched 3I’ve ruined everything.

I’ve broken the cardinal rule and fallen in love with my fake wife, and then I went and did the worst thing a husband can do.

Winning her back will be nearly impossible, but I’ve never backed down from a challenge before and I’m sure as hell not about to start now. Olivia will be mine, and I can’t wait to put a bun in her oven.

You won’t want to miss the final installment in Noah and Olivia’s love story, and especially the way this over-the-top alpha male wins over his bride once and for all.

This is the third and final volume in the story.

I have ninety days to knock up my brand-new fake wife. There’s only one problem—she hates my guts. And in the fine print of the contract? The requirement that we produce an heir. She can’t stand to be in the same room with me. Says she’ll never be in my bed. But I’ve never backed down from a challenge and I’m not about to start now. Mark my words—I’ll have her begging for me, and it won’t take ninety days. On the heels of her smash hit and New York Times bestselling SCREWED series, Kendall Ryan brings you HITCHED, a romantic comedy that delivers heart and heat. A NYC playboy turned business mogul has ninety days to win over the woman he's always desired in order to save his father's company. One tiny problem: She hates his guts.
Hitched 2Arranged marriage? Check. Cocky new husband? Check. It's a marriage of convenience—one I’m determined to keep strictly professional. I can't be stupid enough to fall for this sexy playboy's charm or advances. I have to be strong, even if he is my husband. Except he has a huge cock with an even bigger ego, and his main goal in life seems to be getting me to stroke both. The arrogant bastard is like sweet, sugary candy for my libido. I know he’s bad for me. But I want to devour every wicked inch of him. With his sexual prowess and experience, I know he’ll be explosive in the bedroom. And since we’re stuck together for the foreseeable future—keeping up this marriage charade long enough to turn the company profitable again—I deserve something to look forward to at the end of a long workday, right? This installment, like the last one, picks up where we left off. Olivia is once again running from Noah. Olivia catches Noah with a condom and a needle and runs out. I have to say, I cannot blame her for being freaked out, however, I feel like she handles the situation all wrong.
I really enjoyed the first two installments, but honestly could not get into this one as much. I like how things are resolved, but felt like it too took long and I found myself aggravated. I did like this installment, just not as much as the first two and I feel like this one could have been included within the last one. This one is a 3 star read for me.

Release Day: Veiled by Karina Halle

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Lie and The Pact comes a new romance that will test your limits and leave you breathless.
veiled available nowVeiled AMAZON

About Veiled:
Death. It's something that Ada Palomino has always known so well, having grown up in a house of horrors, surrounded by a family plagued by ghosts and demons and things that go bump in the night. But after the sudden and tragic death of her mother two years ago, death has never felt so personal. Or so close. Now eighteen, Ada is trying to move on with her life and the last month of summer holds nothing but sunshine and promises with her first year at a Portland design school just around the bend. That is until her increasingly violent and realistic dreams, dreams of other worlds, of portals and veils where her mother is tortured and souls bleed for mercy, start to blend into reality. Ada has to lean on her older sister, Perry, to try and make sense of it all but even then, she's never felt more alone. Then there's Jay. Tall, handsome and deeply mysterious, Jay would be just another stranger, a familiar face on the bus, if it wasn't for the fact that Ada has met him before. Every night. In every single dream. And the more that Ada is drawn to him in both worlds, the more she's in danger of losing everything. Including her heart. And her very soul.

  Veiled-now         Veiled-3D-book

Then, out of nowhere: “You looked beautiful tonight, by the way.” Oh jeez. Be still my fucking heart. I try and swallow, his words, the sincerity in his voice rocking my world off-balance. “Which part? When the power went out or when Jacob went upstairs to fight a demon?” I joke. But I joke because I’m feeling this a little too much. “All of it. You know why I call you Princess?” he asks, his tone graver than before, like he’s letting me in on a very deep secret. “Because I’m a spoiled brat?” “Because you’re beautiful.” Well that shut me up. The sentence hangs in the air, larger than life. He clears his throat and goes on and I have to fight against the urge to roll over and face him. “You have this way about you. You don’t see it. But I do. Like you’re born royalty. The way you hold yourself. Your walk. The face of an angel.” Butterflies take flight in my gut, spreading through my veins until my whole body feels like its floating. “Why are you being so nice to me? Am I going to die?” He laughs softly. “I don’t know why I’m saying these things. Just seemed like the things to say. You’re destined for something great, Ada, I know this. And it’s an honor to help see you through it.” His words cascade down on me like ashes from a fire. Where they land, I’m ignited. Jay thinks I’m beautiful. And more than that, he believes in me. Silence settles over us, stealing time. I hear him breathing in the dark, steady as a heartbeat. He might even be sleeping. But I can’t even begin to shut down. My entire body, from the top of my scalp, down to my toes, is buzzing with heat and electricity. It’s like everything I felt for him before, everything I try to ignore, is coming out in full force, responding to his words, to his body so close to mine. I can feel the warmth at my back, sinking into my spine, just from his presence only. I’m starting to have feelings for him. Not just in a he’s a giant hulking beast who’s here to protect me from the underworld way. But real feelings, slowly creeping into my heart, day by day. The thought is terrifying in the same way that demons are terrifying. They both might take possession of me. They both might ruin me. And I’m not sure how much of me I’ll have left.

QUESTIONS ABOUT VEILED

Q: Is this YA?

A: No. The main character is 18 and there is sex, crude language and violence in the book. It is recommended for mature teens or 18 and up.

Q: Is there a cliffhanger?

A: Nope! There's also no cheating and no love triangle (think I've covered the bases there!)

Q: Do I need to read the series (Experiment in Terror) that Veiled is a spinoff of first?

A: Absolutely not. Veiled stands alone. You do not need to have read the EIT series beforehand as this follows a different character (Ada Palomino) and a different storyline. However for those who have read EIT, all your favorites are in the book!

Q: Is it horror? Your other series was and I don't handle scary very well...

A: No, it's paranormal romance (though I promise you there are no vampires or werewolves), and while there are creepy elements to the story, it wouldn't be classified as horror. If you can read KMM's Fever Series or ANY urban fantasy, you'll be fine.

“What’s wrong?” I ask. “Just a little tight, is all.” I inhale through my nose. I have to shove the pregnancy stuff to the back corner of my brain. We’re a long way off from Olivia letting me pump her full of my semen anyhow, so why am I stressing about it now? The first step is showing her how compatible we can be. And that starts now. I smile at her. “Sit tight. I’ll be right back.” I grab a bottle of massage oil from the hall closet and return to the living room. The soft jazz music seems to float in the air, creating a pleasant buzz in the atmosphere. Olivia’s eyes widen when I rejoin her on the couch, but she doesn’t question me. “I’ll give you a massage,” I suggest. “Take off your sweatshirt.” Olivia flinches, chewing on her lip while she watches me. “But I’m not wearing anything underneath.” That’s the idea. “I promise not to look.” She hesitates for another second, then turns her back to me and pulls her shirt over her head, dropping it to the floor. The creamy canvas in front of me is one to be admired. The twin dimples in her lower back near the band of her leggings would make lesser men weep. I warm a few drops of oil between my palms and rest my hands on her stiff shoulders. “Relax. Okay?”

My Review
This installment picks up 48 hours after the last one ended. Olivia left Noah at the altar and he is determined to get answers. I was actually surprised to see how quickly this was handled; other books would have drawn this out and made things super angsty. So it was nice to see it done differently and even though this could have been the main focus of the book it wasn’t, because there are other issues to handle.
It’s no secret that Noah has genuine feelings for Olivia. But he’s keeping secrets. The agreement that Noah and Olivia had to sign had a heir clause. Noah read the contract, but Olivia didn’t. Now Noah struggles with getting what he’s always wanted and being up front about the heir clause.
I have to admit I found myself a little frustrated with Noah in this installment. I feel like he needs to stop thinking with his head below the belt and use the one on his shoulders. I did like this installment, but found it lacking something, I’m just not sure yet. I am hoping the final installment is just what I need.
Once again this ends on a cliffhanger, but that was a warning given when news of this series released. I knew going in that every book was going to leave me wanting more. That’s why I am glad that these books release within weeks of the other.
4 stars!
