ABOUT IT ENDS WITH US:
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all-too-human characters, It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.

My Review

Initially, I wrote my review as soon as I finished this book. This is typically, what I do. I like to write a review with the story fresh and my emotions raw. I will probably leave that part of my review attached to this one. Because in the light of day, I see that I need to, no, have to, write a proper review. I have read a lot of great books, a lot of them stay with me, but this one I know will stay with me forever. This is a completely new Colleen Hoover right here. CoHo, has always been good at pulling at our heartstrings and creating stories that speak to some part of our hearts. But this one blows all of those out of the water. I have a major book hangover and I cannot stop thinking about this story and these characters. This book is not a typical love story and even though people seem to think it is a love triangle, it isn’t even close to one. It really saddens me that someone would skip this book just because they think it’s your typical romance book with a triangle because it isn’t. This is a story of a courageous and strong woman. This is empowering and it does talk about the ultimate love. That type of love that makes you protect it at all costs.

Colleen had once said that this book wasn’t written in ink, but in blood. No truer statement than that one right there. I know that with the way this one broke my heart, seriously it hurts, that it must have shattered her to write this one. I went through so many emotions. I loved this book from the very beginning. I fell in love with these characters and then they broke my heart. Lily is my favorite female lead ever. Because she is real, and I love her. I love her for all of the choices she had to make and at the same time my heart breaks for her. I want to talk about Ryle and Atlas, but I just can’t. I cannot risk spoiling any part of this story. In a way I hate that I love it so much because it hurts. Thinking about this book makes me want to cry all over again. CoHo made me fall in love, broke my heart, and then pieced me back together. But I am hanging on by a thread.  This is her best work, y’all. A whole new level.

****Below is my initial review. It is jumbled thoughts, but so very accurate.****
I know I say this every time I read a CoHo book, but this one, this one, is the best. I will be completely honest, I went into this one not knowing what to expect. I thought we would get the typical triangle, and angst. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE those stories, but this book was so amazingly different than what I thought it was going to be. I want to divulge in everything that happened because I feel like my heart is still breaking, but I refuse to ruin this book for anyone. I am completely heartbroken, and yet, happy with the way things turned out. CoHo is fantastic at writing a story that drags you in and pulls at your emotions, but this one takes the cake. So much so that I forgot I was even reading a book she wrote, does that make sense? Instead, I almost felt like I was living every moment, every word, every emotion. You know you have read a damn good book when YOU feel like it was your life and that YOU are shattered, even if you have never experienced half of what happens, you become so fused with the characters that you feel their happiness, and their pain.

I promise I am done going on and on and on. I wish I could give this a proper review. I really do. But as you can clearly see, I ramble, a lot, and I just cannot let myself ramble and ruin anything. This is one of those books, you know what books I’m talking about, that you have to go in blind. If not it will ruin the whole book. All I can say is that everyone needs to read this, male or female. Married or not married. This is so much more than what you are thinking it is.

***An ARC was given in exchange for my HONEST review, and my review is honest, like I had to get up out of bed after finishing to write this review honest. Thank you!***
If I could give this book more than 5 stars, then I would!
