REVIEW: Torn by Annie Brewer

Torn (Torn Heart, #1)

BLURB: Skylar McKenzie is a serious artist with a plan. She'll graduate high school, travel around Europe, then leave her life in Texas and move to New York. She'll also leave her feelings for the boy she's known her whole life, behind and move on. Or so she hopes.

Jackson Cruz is ready for a future as a star quarterback once he graduates high school. It's the path he's been leading for years now. But when his cheerleader girlfriend cheats on him, and a teammate causes a lot of drama, he wonders if this is really the life he's wanted, or if there's something more.

They thought they had it all figured out-their futures. But life doesn't always go as planned. With feelings revealed, their dreams on the line, this is a year for changes, choices, and a love that might or might not overcome all obstacles.

Told in Jackson and Skylar’s POV, this is a story about acceptance, first love, embracing your passions and finding your way, even if it’s not the way you had planned.

My Review
This is a story of childhood friends who grew apart and then come back together. I love how strong Sky was and I really love how her art wasn't just mentioned once and then forgotten. Her art is a big part of her life and left me wanting to see her paintings. When we first saw interaction between Sky and Jackson I thought I was going to hate him, but he proved me wrong. He was a teenager still dealing with heavy stuff that lead him to be the way he is. At first I thought something would happen between Jared and Sky and I am really glad nothing did. I think it would have taken the story somewhere else. I am happy with the way things played out. I just wish Jackson would have gotten rid of Amber sooner.. That bitch really needed to be put in her place. But I think I would like to know more about her too. Like why is she the way she is, just to get a glimpse in the bad girl's head. Torn is full of teenage angst and shows all of the characters growing up throughout the story. Though they all still had moments where I wanted to shake them all, however that is part of being human, making mistakes and learning from those mistakes.

My favorite thing is that this story isn't farfetched. Everything that happened was real. That end.. Oh that end has me wanting to know what is up a certain person's sleeve! Not a cliffhanger per se but still leaves you with questions and sets up for the next book. Can't wait to see what else is in store for everyone!

REVIEW: The Fine Line by Alicia Kobishop

The Fine Line

BLURB:High school senior Liv Evans has one rule: No attachments. She’s lost enough in her life and has vowed to do whatever it takes to make sure she never again feels the emptiness of losing someone she loves. Boys are a fun distraction, but a serious relationship is something she’d rather live without. Her determination for a future free of pain and heartbreak is put to the test when she meets–and quickly forms an unexpected bond–with Logan Tanner.

Logan has always been a free spirit, but ever since a life-changing event took place, which left him doubting the integrity of those who are closest to him, he’s taken that term to a whole new dangerous level. Learning the hard way that life is too short for worries or work–and that women can’t be trusted–Logan has exchanged steady work for street racing. When Liv walks into his world, everything he thought he knew about life and women is challenged.

In The Fine Line, Liv and Logan will discover if it’s possible for true love to have a future, or if history is destined to repeat itself.

My Review

This story had some of my favorite things.. Racing, fast cars, swoon worthy guys, and the from friends to lovers. I liked Logan instantly. I like Liv too but at times I wanted to shake her.

Liv has a bad history with men, since she was little they have always left her. No one ever stays. So she vowed to herself not to let any guy get that close to her. Not to fall in love. But when she meets Logan she finds herself struggling to make sure she can stop herself from falling for him. Just friends. That is all they can be.Logan in typical guy fashion doesn't do relationships either.

Their friendship builds quickly and the timeline flows pretty quick as well. But you can't miss how the feelings they both have change. This is the part where I wanted to shake Liv so much. She just fought it so much, fought how she was feeling. I loved how Logan was honest about how he felt.

Easy, fast read. I thought things were going to go a little different in some ways, but was glad they didn't because it would have been expected. I would of liked more Logan though :)
I liked the ending too. Liv and Logan's story helps remind us that not everyone is the same and not everyone leaves.

REVIEW: Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1) by Karina Halle

           (E.I.T Book 1)

BLURB: Enter the world of the highly-acclaimed Experiment in Terror Series by visiting...the Darkhouse:

There’s always been something a bit off about Perry Palomino. Though she’s been dealing with a quarter-life crisis and post-college syndrome like any other twenty-something, she’s still not what you would call “ordinary.” For one thing, there’s her past which she likes to pretend never happened, and then there’s the fact that she sees ghosts.

Luckily for her, that all comes in handy when she stumbles across Dex Foray, an eccentric producer for an upcoming webcast on ghost hunters. Even though the show’s budget is non-existent and Dex himself is a maddening enigma, Perry is instantly drawn into a world that both threatens her life and seduces her with a sense of importance. Her uncle’s haunted lighthouse provides the perfect catalyst and backdrop for a mystery that unravels the threads of Perry’s fragile sanity and causes her to fall for a man, who, like the most dangerous of ghosts, may not be all that he seems.

My Review
I didn't really know what to expect when I started reading this. But I wasn't disappointed, until I got to the end and realized that it well, was the end.

The one thing that Karina does is draw you in with her writing. An with this book she has you coming back for more because there are so many things that need to be told. Figured out. That is NOT a bad thing though. Though I typically read romance, I think that since this really only hints at mutual attraction it made it a better story. Instead of trying to figure out what the hell is going on plus trying to juggle romantic feelings I was able to focus on the story better. I want to dig deeper and learn more about Perry and Dex. I don't normally do the paranormal/horror type of story because this isn't pretty sweet romantic hearts and flowers paranormal. No this shit is freaky! Like I hated turning my lights off to go to bed last night... I am the type of girl that can't watch horror movies because I will dream about that shit for months! Well Darkhouse gave me that feeling but thank god it didn't happen but this book felt real. That is what I enjoyed so much. It felt like if you believe in the supernatural stuff then there is not one piece of this book that couldn't have happened.

Aside from the spooky stuff going on, this book also had its funny moments too.. Maybe not funny to everyone but nice and sarcastic, off the wall.

I was fucked and I knew it. I had stupidly wandered into some epic rape palace run by meth-addicted hobos and bald men with beards who recently escaped nearby jails and had taken over this place for their torture sessions with hapless young women they found exploring the coast. Even worse, I was going to be the hapless woman who decided to infiltrate their headquarters.

I really liked Perry's character. So far one of my favorite female characters of Karina's. I am not going to go on and on about trying to describe Perry or Dex, plus I think you have to read to really know them and even then you will still have questions! So if you are looking to swap up your reading or get a different more realistic take on the paranormal, then look no further!

REVIEW - Connectivity and Q&A with author Aven Ellis

This is my first ever Q&A with a review :) So stay tuned at the end of my review to get some inside knowledge about author Aven Ellis!

Connectivity

BLURB: Overachiever Mary-Kate Grant (who is indeed named after an Olsen Twin) has followed every rule to the letter to pursue her dream of working in TV programming. Ripping a page from the “hard work pays off” playbook, she takes an assistant level job at a Chicago sports network to break into the industry.
MK has no time or desire for a relationship right now—she is totally focused on her career and being independent, unlike the other women in her family.

But MK’s plans are run through the shredder when she finds herself working for William Cumberland, a British media mogul who made his fortune with Connectivity, a social media site. William blows into Chicago just like the winds off Lake Michigan and purchases the group of networks MK works for—and makes her his personal assistant in the process.

Suddenly MK finds her career plans in jeopardy. William makes her question everything she has ever thought and has the uncanny ability to see right through her. And for the first time in her life, MK finds herself not only questioning what she wants for her career but for her personal life as well…

My Review
I really liked both characters from the beginning. MK was just so damn clumsy that I couldn´t help but laugh. I am glad that William was never a jerk towards her like most books portray the man. Most of the time the guys are jerks first then turn into this amazing person. But not William. He was amazing from the start.

Mary Kate, yep like the Olsen twin, is an assistant trying to work her way up in the company so she can work at Beautiful Homes Network. She blogs, and has a knack for decorating. She´s focused and career driven. Until William Cumberland enters the picture. It doesn´t happen right away though. They begin to fall into a simple easy friendship. The only problem is MK is William´s assistant. But right or wrong, it is hard to hide from your feelings. Especially unexpected ones. Mary Kate´s friends really began to piss me off, as did her sister and mother. No one took a minute to see how she was doing. Her sister is so self absorbed that I just wanted to smack her. She thought that MK didn´t have a life because she enjoyed her work and didn´t want to quit and rely on a man. Her friends, I don´t even know where to start with them. I have no idea why they got their panties in a twist over Mk and William speaking. So it was no shock that they flipped their lid when they dated. Anyways. I loved William and MK´s relationship. They kept up their witty banner with one another throughout the story and they didn´t jump into anything. Their relationship grew over time. I love that neither one of them had to give up their dreams. I think they also helped each other grow as well.

Getting to Know Aven Ellis:

Jenna: Coffee or tea?

Aven: Coffee. Definitely coffee. With flavored creamer. You don’t want to know how many are in my fridge right now...

Jenna: Okay, well now I have to ask! Just how many flavored creamers are in your fridge right now?

Aven: Let’s see: Pumpkin Pie, Mudslide, Irish Cream, and Cinnamon. Four!

Jenna: What is your favorite holiday?

Aven: Thanksgiving. I love that it is all about the food and hanging out with family and friends.

Jenna: You recently just told me about cornbread dressing gone wrong, lol. Just so you know I wouldn't even know where to begin on making it! :)  What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?

Aven: Bah ha ha! I make a maple-mustard glazed turkey that is awesome. That’s my favorite thing on the table. Pumpkin pie is a very close second.

Jenna: Do you like reality TV programs?

Aven: I am obsessed with Top Chef and Project Runway...and I confess to loving The Bachelor.

Jenna: How long can you go without talking?

Aven: HA!! I’m a talker. The only thing that shuts me down is losing my voice or if I’m watching TV and Benedict Cumberbatch is on. That gets my complete--and silent--attention.

Jenna: Well we have that in common for sure! I pretty much don't shut up, unless I am reading or into a show too. We talkers have to stick together! ;)

Aven: Jenna, I think we would never be silent if we met for coffee! :)

Jenna: Now I am sure everyone is dying to know a little more about Connectivity because I sure am!

So how did you come  with the idea for Connectivity?

Aven: I was watching an episode of Sherlock on PBS and Benedict Cumberbatch (who plays Sherlock) has this crazy, wild, wavy hair. And the idea of William started forming in my head from that moment. So really, it came down to the hair, ha ha! Side note: William’s looks are actually like those of my two favorite actors: Henry Cavill and Benedict Cumberbatch. Wavy dark hair, blue eyes, great cheekbones, British...sigh.But I knew the story I wanted to write was about a driven young woman who didn’t think she needed love until she found it with William, and how love didn’t distract her or derail her professionally, but helped her blossom. So once I had William, the rest of the story fell into place.

Jenna: What is your favorite thing about Connectivity?

Aven: My favorite thing about the book is that I made the
hero, William Cumberland, an un-tortured, non-sex crazed billionaire. Different, right? LOL! I know that is not the norm for the genre, but he is the man I wanted to write. He has his issues, of course, but he a good man with an even better heart—once he opens it up to let someone in, like he does with Mary-Kate.

Jenna: Yes, it is very different for this particular genre, but I think it works. Not everyone is a tortured, nymphomaniac after all :) I like that by not giving into the norms for this genre we got to know William and Mary-Kate a little better instead of focusing on everything else.

Aven:I am so glad you like that this wasn’t the norm. In fact, it is about as opposite as you can get, due to the fact that they really had a courtship prior to taking the relationship into the bedroom.

Jenna:  What is your favorite scene in Connectivity?

Aven: I really love the scene where William and Mary-Kate have drinks in the hotel bar. It’s sexy, it’s flirty, and they’re getting to see who each other really is for the very first time. I love that scene.

Jenna: What is your favorite kind of hero to write? The Bad Boy or the Good Boy?

Aven:  Give me the good boy!I write heroines who know a good, solid man when they see one. My heroes aren’t tortured souls. They are good guys who have problems like we all do. My heroes simply grow and evolve once they meet their matches. And good boys can be crazy sexy, too. I’m just saying. William Cumberland is a badass mogul in the boardroom in Connectivity, but loving and respectful to Mary-Kate. And I dare say he’s a very sexy man.

Jenna: What is your favorite thing about writing?

Aven: I love bringing characters to life and giving them a journeyto take. To me, seeing a character grow emotionally and come to a stronger place within by the end of the story is immensely rewarding to me.

Jenna: Okay Aven, last question! Can you give us some hints about your next two books?

Aven: I’m very excited about my April release, Waiting For Prince Harry. This story is about Kylie Reed, a young Dallas woman who finds excuses as to why she can’t life her life in the present--she doesn’t have the career job, she hasn’t met her future husband, etc. and always puts things off until the future out of fear. Of course, if she had a chance to run away with Prince Harry she would live in the future now, as he is her ideal man. But when she meets a hot ginger stranger--one even more gorgeous than Prince Harry--her world is changed...and she might just learn how to face her fears and live in the present after all.

Chroincles of a Lincoln Park Fashionista follows Avery Andrews, a career woman simply
to pay the bills, as she has no interest in a career path--she wants to be married, have children, and volunteer in her community. She lands her first job out of college working for an airline (even though she is terrified of flying), and life outside of the university is proving harder than she thought. Things aren’t the way they are supposed to be, like her having horrific debt and no way to pay it...until she is chosen to participate in a reality show documentary about the lives of airline employees. But Avery gets more than extra money from the project, as the mysterious and gorgeous Deacon Ryan is assigned to be the cameraman for her story--and challenges her idea of what she is supposed to want in life in more ways than one...

Jenna: Thank you for joining me today Aven and letting me pick your brain a little! :)

REVIEW: Raising Ryann by Alyssa Rae Taylor

Raising Ryann (Bad Boy Reformed, #1)

BLURB: Twenty-year-old Reese Johnson can finally leave her troublesome past behind. She enters college with her best friend, Gia, and spends her time doing what she loves—working as a self-defense instructor at a local gym. Then Luke Ryann enters the picture. He’s the tall, dark, and tattooed MMA fighter her boss hires to privately train her. One minute, he captivates her with his piercing brown eyes and boyish dimples. The next, he infuriates her with his relentless banter and cocky bad boy behavior. He’s the last thing she wants or needs, and she never expects to fall in love with him.

Luke’s jaded past has him keeping a safe distance. Despite what he feels, some things are better left alone. He has a dangerous secret—one that has the potential to risk their lives. As he fights the attraction between them, can he resist the growing tension and protect the woman he’ll never be able to have?

Recommended for mature audiences due to situations of abuse, violence, strong language and sexual content.

Raising Ryann, the first book in the Bad Boy Reformed series, isn't just a story about first love. It's filled with action, suspense, mystery, and a touch of humor

My Review

WTF CLIFFHANGER?!

Okay now that I got that out of the way..Their was so much tension, sexual and otherwise between these two! I wanted to shake them, but I loved every minute of it! A-N-T-I-C-I-P-A-T-I-O-N!

Reese has had a rough life, her mom was always parading men in and out of their lives. Her father was absent. Not to mention what the book first opens with gives us a glimpse at her past. Now 20 she teaches self defense to young girls. I love that she does this. I like how she didn't let her past shape her negatively instead she uses it to empower her, to learn how to protect herself and then uses that knowledge to teach others to do the same.

Luke. Oh, Luke. I love that he is a MMA fighter. I mean who doesn't like t

hat? But what I like most about him isn't his MMA status or even his looks. It is how protective he is over Reese. How he respects her, even though at times I wish he would have disrespected her if you catch my drift ;)
But seriously his self control is pretty amazing. Luke hasn't had an easy life either. He's been in enough trouble to have a rap sheet, has a horrible family history, and is still battling his demons. Aside from all that he seems pretty laid back. He is kind and he is just a guy trying to do the right thing.

The tension between these two about killed me! I couldn't help screaming ¨Kiss her! Kiss her!¨ in my head over and over.
¨A girl can only be rejected so many times, before it starts to wear her down. Really Luke, I get it. It just hurts.¨

But as expected they both can't fight things any longer. While it seems crazy that they would, he has his reasons. Both of their pasts are horrible and painful but I think together they can begin to heal one another. But we were sadly left with a cliffhanger. While it is not a bad one, it still makes me want to stomp my foot and whine until I have the next book!
While it has some heavy parts it is a fairly easy read and aside from the dark parts is light. It also isn't one of those books that has you freaking out and trying to piece things together either. It flows really well. If you haven't met Reese and Luke yet, then I suggest you do.

¨I'm in love with you.... Can't you see that? I live and breathe you. I bleed you.¨

REVIEW: Sex.Love.Repeat. by Alessandra Torre

Sex. Love. Repeat.

BLURB: I love two men. I screw two men. I am in a relationship with them both, and they are both aware there is another. That is all they need to know, that is all I let them know. They don’t need to know a name; they don’t need to know anything but that they are not alone in my heart.

They have accepted the situation. Stewart, because his life is too busy for the sort of obligations that are required in a relationship. Paul, because he loves me too much to tell me no. And because my sexual appetite is such that one man has trouble keeping up.

So we exist, two parallel relationships, each running their own course, with no need for intersection or conflict. It works for us, for them, and for me. I don’t expect it to be a long-term situation. I know there is an expiration date on the easy perfection of our lives.

I should have paid more attention, should have looked around and noticed the woman who watched it all. She sat in the background and waited, tried to figure me out. Saw my two relationships, the love between us, and the moment that it all fell apart.

She hates me.
I don’t even know she exists.
She loves them. I love them.
And they love me.

EVERYTHING else hangs in the balance.

My Review
The heart is stubborn. It holds onto love despite what sense and emotion tell it. And it is often, in the battle of those three, the most brilliant of all.

Wow. I didn't know what to expect going into this book. I didn't expect to like Madison as much as I did, or to sympathize with her. Another surprise for me? I also couldn't choose. Sometimes when reading a book you form an idea on who you think the person will choose, but with this one even though it seemed obvious there was still that doubt in the back of my mind.

¨But I will always own your heart. And this man would be second to me in your heart.¨

This book is full of sex, but that being said there is a story behind it all. Madison is in love with two men. Two men that are alike and different all in the same breathe. Stewart she loves for his passion and drive, his knowledge of her body and needs. Paul she loves because he is so carefree and loving, he always has time for her. She loves them both and them her. The dynamic behind their relationship just surprised me. I expected it to not be as easy as it was despite the fact that they knew about each other. Nothing aside from the fact that she was with them both though. They don't know each others' name or what they look like. She kept both lives as separate as possible.

They both own my heart now, an equal division fought over by two sets of blue eyes.

Dana threw me for a loop. I couldn't figure out who she was, or why it was any of her business what anyone was doing. But let me tell you I was surprised to find out. I felt more than I thought I was going to. I didn't realize just how much this story, their story would pull at my heart. Some people don't think it is possible to be in love with two people at once, but it is. While this obviously seems like a love triangle it isn't. I mean it is to an extent but I never got that feeling. Read it and you will see what I mean.

All great changes are preceded by chaos.

REVIEW: Storm Warning (Book 1 in the Broken Heartland Series) by E. Lee and C. Quinn

**This is a YA contemporary book. That being said it is amazing and one of the best YA books I have read..EVER**

Storm Warning

BLURB: Sometimes you can’t see the storm coming until it’s too late...

Severe Storm Warning Tip #1:
Be alert to changing weather conditions. Look for approaching storms.

Severe Storm Warning Tip #2:
If you see approaching storms or any of the danger signs, be prepared to take shelter immediately.

Severe Storm Warning Tip #3:
They may strike quickly, with little or no warning.

Situated just outside of Oklahoma City, Calumet County is divided into two drastically different communities: Hope’s Grove and Summit Bluffs. One is the small backward town where dirt roads lead the way to field parties and railroad tracks. And the other, a sprawling suburb where paved drives lead to the landscaped lawns of the wealthy and over privileged.

For five teenagers smack in the middle of Tornado Alley, summer is heating up fast. The winds of change are blurring the invisible line that divides the rich and the rural.

One has a secret.
One has a crush.
One has been lying.
One will get caught.
And one might not make it out alive.

They’re from two different worlds…but one summer is about to change everything.

My Review
Storm Warning is by far one of my favorite YA books ever. E.Lee and C.Quinn are amazing authors separately, but together they are something else! This book blew me away and has me wanting more.

Storm Warning follows five main characters: Kyle, Ella Jane (aka EJ), Coop,Hayden, and Cami. Kyle and EJ are siblings, Coop is Kyle's best friend and Hayden and Cami are new to the bunch so to speak.

Five is a lot of different heads to be in, but it was done so well that it won't even bother you to switch back and forth. I love how it gave me the chance to really get to know each one of the characters. Almost to the point of knowing what was going through their minds even when we weren't in them.

Storm Warning touches on so many different aspects of being a teenager. You have Kyle who is getting to ready to head off to college, EJ who is looking forward to something changing this summer for her, she has a crush on Coop.. Who it turns out has a thing for her as well..

That's Kyle's little sister, man. Remember, your best friend? The one who'd kick your ass if he knew what was running through your mind right now? Oh yeah. Him.

As I am sure you are wondering since there is 2 girls and 3 boys, yes there is a somewhat triangle. But it works. It is not your typical over the top, full of angst, love triangle. It is real. Something that reminds you of being a teenager again. Have you ever wanted someone you can't have? Ever been afraid to let someone know how you feel? If so then you can relate. But this book is about more than that though.

In Storm Warning you see each and everyone of the characters grow. They are all trying to figure out who they are and some learn there is more to them than they originally thought. Cami and Hayden are from the other side of town, it might as well be a different country. Whereas Kyle,EJ, and Coop work for what they have, Cami and Hayden don't. But there is more behind the two of them. Cami isn't just some spoiled girl, while I will admit at first I wasn't a huge fan but I am sure she will continue to grow on me. Hayden.. well Hayden I didn't want to love him, but man I do. Once you get to know him you can not help but fall in love. EJ is probably my favorite character. With Hayden and Coop tied for second place. Those two boys make it hard to pick a team. I was TEAM Coop all the way before I read, but then I met Hayden.. All I can say is I love them both and it is so hard to pick because I feel like I am betraying the other when I pick one. They both are so great.

All it takes is one summer and everything changes. Lives are changed forever, fall in love, find yourself, and watch out for the storm. Storm Warning is not to be missed! I could not put this book down. I had to know what was going to happen next with each and every character. I am on pins and needles waiting for the next book. I don't re-read a lot of books but this one is one that will always be a re-read for me! It is that good!

About the Authors:

Whether you believe in destiny, divine intervention, or just plain ol' dumb luck, several things happened in 2013 that caused E. Lee and C. Quinn's paths to cross. It may have been that the stars aligned perfectly, or the fact anytime Luke Bryan was mentioned on a social media site both of them were tagged, or maybe it was just that their small town roots and country girl attitudes were magnetically drawn together—calling out to one another, “Y'all should write a book!” Despite geography keeping them apart—Lee in Illinois and Quinn in Alabama—they did. Thanks to three-hour phone calls, ridiculous amounts of online chats, and umpteen Google Docs—Storm Warning is the first book in their edgy new Young Adult series,
Broken Heartland.

Ignite (Explosive, #1)
Book 1 in the Explosive Series.

Blurb: After nearly a year and a half of grieving the loss of her husband, twenty-seven year old Alexa Sullivan Tate is headed back to her hometown after a decade of being away. She has no idea her high school crush, Jace McAllister, the guy who stole her heart the same night that he broke it, is more than ready to pick up the pieces.

Jace has spent the last ten years in the Army defusing bomb after bomb, trying to forget the girl who ignited all his passions. Little does he know that the spark still exists.

Ten years ago they had smoldering chemistry, but the spark between them now might light a fuse that leads to an explosion even Jace can't stop. Not that he wants to. If only Alexa can get past her guilt and trust her heart again.

But how do you put it all on the line when you've already lost everything once before?

*Mature Audiences only, 18+. While this is a series, each book will be standalone.

My Review
“You'll always be my homerun.”

I just adore Jace, let me just go ahead and get that out there. Lexi and Jace's story is just simply beautiful. Who knew a second chance at love would be so good?
This story from the very first line grabbed my attention and did not let go!

After ten years of not seeing or speaking to one another Jace and Lexi still had amazing chemistry. They were still drawn to one another and after getting to know each other again they realize they possibly never stopped loving each other either.
“Alexa, I’ve never forgotten about you. I’ve never had a connection with any other woman like the one you and I had—that I know we still have. You were my only. You were it for me. My homerun. My grand slam. My perfect game. I’ve never, I will never, ever want anyone but you”

SWOON. Anyways, not only is this book sweet, it is also pretty damn hilarious as well. There were several times I was laughing out loud. That being said there were also times I cried. Not only will you fall in love with Lexi and Jace, you will also fall in love with everyone else that surrounds them. The supporting characters are just as awesome. An thankfully they will be getting to tell their own stories as well. Look out for Knox's story next!

Amazing debut by Tessa Teevan, I know I for one will read anything she writes!

REVIEW: At Any Price by Brenna Aubrey

At Any Price (Gaming the System, #1)
At Any Price (Gaming the System #1)

BLURB: Achievement Unlocked: Geek Virgin

When Mia Strong, proud geek-girl and popular gaming blogger, auctions off her virginity online, she knows she'll make waves. But what she will not be making is a love connection. Her rules are set in stone: One night. No further contact.

It's a desperate step, but it's the only way she can go to medical school and pay her mother's mounting hospital bills.

Difficulty Level: Millionaire CEO

Adam Drake, the enigmatic auction winner, is a software prodigy who made his first million at seventeen. Now, in his mid-twenties, he's sexy, driven and--as CEO of his own gaming company--he's used to making the rules. Before Mia knows what's happening, he's found the loophole in the rules of her auction. Every stipulation she's made to protect her heart gets tossed by the wayside.

She can't tell if he's playing her...or if he's playing for keeps.

This New Adult book is intended for readers over the age of 18 due to adult language, sexual content and adult situations.

My Review

I have read a story similar to this one and thought for sure they would be alike. Which would of been okay because I liked the other one too. But I am pleased to say aside from auctioning of her virginity the similarities differ. Though a few major points in the book I figured out before the reveal I still enjoyed this book. I look forward to continuing the story of Mia and Adam.

Mia Strong is a self proclaimed geek girl who not only plays the video games but also blogs about them. But don't let that throw you off, she's still a beautiful girl who loves to run and is studying to retake the MCATS to start medical school. Therein lies the problem. Medical School. How is she supposed to pay for it? She works constantly, plays her games and writes her blog, PLUS studying. Her bright idea? To take control of what is hers. She owns her hymen, no one else does. Women and their virginity has been given away for as long as time. Given away when they didn't always want but for dowry. Men back in the day paid a lot for a virgin. So she figures why not just sale it off herself? her best friend Heath, doesn't think it's a good idea but supports her and makes sure he screens the man completely. In fact he is in charge in choosing the match for her. He finds what he thinks is the perfect match. After all it's just one night.

Adam Drake is the hot, rich, sexy as sin business man that meets all of Mia's requirements. He owns Draco Enterprises. Self taught, self made millionaire. Hot geeky guy? Yes, please.
From their first meeting sparks fly. They have chemistry alright, but Adam is also a bit of an ass at first. But really I think he was just testing Mia. After all if you can't talk about sex should you be doing it?

This was supposed to be a one time thing. But what happens if you start to want more? Both have their own secrets. The more they slowly begin to confide in one another the harder it becomes to part ways. Past secrets come out, worlds collide, can they withstand everything that is thrown out at them? Where does it all leave them? Well READ IT to find out! I for one cannot wait for the rest of the serie
