Hudson

“What if I could help you?”

I have no idea what the hell I was thinking. The words just leaped out of my mouth. Listening to Gracie talk about kicking off her granny panties and popping her cherry with some random Internet dick...I guess it drove me temporarily insane.

But there's no taking back the idea now. Gracie sucks in her breath, blinking wide-eyed. “What do you mean?” she asks.

What do I mean? Here I am, sitting next to the world's most beautiful girl—drowning in her eyes, her scent, the gentle puff of her breath on my mouth that begs me to close the distance. I know what I want, but I also know what will happen if I take it. My best friend will rip off my balls and feed them to me. And I'll probably deserve every second.

But sweet Jesus, I'm pretty sure Gracie wants this, too, and that's enough to blow my better judgment to pieces. All I care about right now is making her feel better. In as many ways as possible. And if her slightly quickened breathing, blown pupils, and flushed cheeks are anything to go by...

As an experiment, I dart out the tip of my tongue to wet my lips. Her darkened eyes drop like a magnet yanked them. Yeah, bingo. Having a little black book as thick as the dictionary has its advantages. I know damn well how to tell when a woman wants me.

My Review

This was such a steamy and short novella. I enjoyed every minute of it! I wanted more!

This is a standalone book, but a spin off from Screwed. Gracie is Hayden's little sister and Hudson is his best friend. Gracie has known Hudson for almost her whole life. During that time she has always had a thing for him.

I really liked Gracie. She's confident and innocent and it's a great combo! She's been lusting after Hudson for forever but she decides that she's 22 now and it's about time to stop waiting around on Hudson and to lose her virginity. The fun begins when Hudson hears Gracie's plan, he comes up with his own plan.

Hudson has spent his whole friendship with Hayden trying to deny the feelings that he has for his best friend's little sister. But when Gracie talks about sleeping with someone else, he tells her that he'll do it. He'll take her virginity and teach her everything she needs to know to please a man.

Neither one of them expect for things to go the way they do. This is such a quick read and everything happens quickly, but the thing is, it works so well! I actually wanted more of these two!!

My Review

I have to admit, when diving into an author's debut book I am always a little nervous. I'm always afraid that I won't like it and then I'll feel horrible. I know, I know, some books are not for everyone. But still. However, there was no reason for me to feel that way when starting this one. I was hooked from the moment I started this book! Let me just go ahead and warn y'all though, this does have a cliffhanger! Though I didn't find it to be too major. 

Abbi has just broke things off with her no good, cheatin' fiance, Jed. They had been together practically their whole lives and she needed some distance from him and all the expectations her mama and her hometown have. So she applies to work at Wolf Cove in Alaska for the summer. This is where her life changes. 
Abbi is a good girl, and I do mean a good girl. But I really liked this about her and it was relatable. Hell, we were all a good girl at some point in our lives. She never expects to feel attracted to her new boss, Henry Wolf. 

Abbi gets hired to become Henry's personal assistant even though she really has no experience whatsoever. I really liked Henry. He's talk, dark and handsome, oh and rich. But I think he comes off as pretty normal. Anyways there was never a dull moment when Henry and Abbi where in the same room. 

This book held my attention, had a great story line, and was hot as hell. I cannot wait to read book 2!!

“How do I get over him?” My voice is almost pleading.

“By spending the next four months fucking someone in every position imaginable.”

I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought of it, more than once. But it was always from a place of pain and rejection, a place I knew would drive me to have regrets down the road. “I don’t want just ‘somebody.’” Right now, the way my body’s responding to him, I want the lumberjack.

I trace the back of his neck with my fingertips. His arms are so strong, his body is so tight, his face so striking. Every fiber of my body is in tune with his, my skin prickling with the thought of these hands touching my bare skin. What would it be like to be naked with someone so big and masculine?

I twirl the little curly wisps of hair within my shaky but unusually bold fingers. “Have you ever been with a virgin?”

He inhales with a light hiss. “Not for a long time.”

“Why not?”

“I prefer women over little girls.”

I swallow against the burn of that rebuff. He’s calling me a little girl. “So inexperience bothers you?”

“It’s never appealed to me.” A wicked smirk touches his lips. “Though you wouldn’t be inexperienced for long.”

A flush races through my entire body almost instantly, the heat building between my legs at the way he talks, as if sex is a real possibility between us. Pressing my lips together to try and hide my nervous grin, I reach up to run my fingers through his beard again. What would that feel like against my skin if he kissed me? I’ve never kissed a man with a beard. I’ve never kissed anyone but Jed. “I’ll bet if you shaved your face, you’d be even more beautiful.” His jaw tenses as I caress the edge of his jaw slowly, imagining what he looks like beneath.

“Maybe I don’t want to be more beautiful.”

“You know what I mean, Lumberjack.” I rest my head against his broad frame again, burrowing my face further into his thick neck because it feels so nice and warm in there. I notice one of the buttons on his shirt has popped open. I reach for it, intent on fixing it for him, and accidently tug another one open in the process. “Oops. Sorry.” My fingertip skates across hot exposed skin as I try to fix it one-handed. Oh my God. This guy’s chest. I understand what “rock hard” means now. His skin is smooth, with a faint line of hair trailing down the middle. “Are you staying here, in the village?”

“Sure.”

“Which cabin?”

“Why?”

“Because maybe I want to find you tomorrow?”

“You won’t.”

“How do you know?”

A cocky grin flashes. “Because if you remember any part of tonight, you’ll be avoiding me for the rest of the summer.”

I scowl into his neck. “You think you have me all figured out. What if I just want to say hi?”

“I’m sure I’ll see you around.”

“Fine.” My lips have been skating across his skin while I talk. Now I run my tongue along them, because it’s the closest I can get without actually licking him. “You taste salty.”

A shaky breath escapes him and he speeds up.

Did I just turn on the lumberjack? Jed used to breathe like that when I sucked on his earlobe. My ego sure could use the boost right now. “What if I wanted to find you for other things?” Man, alcohol makes me brave.

My Review

Wow, what a ride! Crush picks up right where Blow left off and this book never slowed down!

Elle and Logan get deeper and deeper into this mess that her sister is involved in and what happens, I never saw coming! 

Just like in Blow, the chemistry between these two is off the charts! No matter what they were going through, and they go through a lot, the one thing that remained was how they feel about each other. I have to say I loved the twists and turns in this book. I cannot say much because I don't want to spoil anything. But as soon as I thought I had things figured out I was thrown for a loop! There is never a slow moment in this book and it moves just as fast paced as book one. I won't lie, there were times I wanted to shake Elle and times I wanted to shake Logan, but this is their story and things had to play out the way they did. 

I cannot wait to finally read more by this author. I loved these books!!

Ashton sauntered in, making his jogging pants and t-shirt look ridiculously sexy. He walked toward the cabinet, retrieving two glasses and a bottle of whiskey. He filled the glasses with ice before pulling out the stool next to Sophie. She glanced up at him questioningly, unsure what his mood would be. He filled both glasses before sliding one in front of her. “Your favorite,” he teased. She watched his hands and noticed that even they were sensual and perfect. She couldn’t stop thoughts of how they would feel running over her naked body.

“How sweet, you remembered.” She smiled sarcastically.

He laughed then, a deep beautiful sound that showed a side of him that had always seemed so out of reach. His genuine smile was stunning and perfect upon his strong masculine face. He sipped the amber fluid from his glass like it was water. He didn’t mind the burning sensation and strong flavor that made her feel like she was swallowing household cleaner, without the refreshing lemon scent to accompany it.

“Let me see this.” Ashton picked up her tablet and angled it away from her.

“What are you doing?” She grabbed at it but Ashton pulled it out of her reach. “You’re making me nervous.” Sophie complained.

“Don’t I always?” He smiled before setting it back down in front of her. A truth or dare game was displayed on the screen. “Truth or dare?” he asked playfully.

“Oh god…really?” Sophie asked in disbelief.

“Are you chicken?” Ashton baited her.

“Fine…truth,” Sophie caved. Ashton picked up the tablet and selected truth.

He leaned in close to her ear. “What were you thinking when you were staring at me tonight?” Ashton asked mischievously, his gaze unwavering.

“That’s not what it says. You’re cheating.” Sophie tried to take the tablet from his hands but he refused to let her take it.

“You said you would play.” He raised his eyebrow.

“Argh…” Sophie picked up the glass of whiskey and took a generous sip, causing her to cough through the burning sensation. “I thought you looked nice.”

“Nice? Come on. I saw the way you were looking at me.” He pushed.

“I thought you looked incredibly hot. Okay? Are you happy now?” Sophie said impudently. Heat flooded her cheeks at her confession. “It’s not like you didn’t already know that.”

“I didn’t know that you thought that.” Ashton’s expression softened a bit.

“Like it matters,” she added as she rolled her eyes.

“It does.” He looked deep into her eyes like he was searching for something. Sophie broke the connection as the heat became too intense.

“Your turn. Truth or dare?” She held up the tablet.

“Truth,” he answered without hesitation.

“Do you want to kiss me?” The words were out of her mouth before she realized it. She wanted to take them back immediately but they were already out there, hanging between them.

“Yes,” he answered truthfully. “Truth or dare?”

“Dare.” Sophie didn’t want to make any more confessions that she would regret later. Was this thing between them still a game?

A slow smile curled the edges of his full lips. “Take off your shirt.”

My Review

This is the first book I have read by this author and I have to say I enjoyed it. This book took a different turn than I expected but it was good.

Sophie is an art student and I really liked how much her art was mentioned. Anyways- in high school she was put through hell by Ashton and his girlfriend Lucinda. So when Ashton walks into her art class to pose for a nude painting she is thrust back into high school and the pain and anger she felt towards Ashton. I have to say I really didn't like Ashton at first. He was a jerk to her in high school but the more I learned about these two, the more I started to actually like him. 

There was a time or two that I didn't care for Sophie and thought that she freaked out too soon. But other than that I really liked the book. I would say that it is pretty angsty, but good! There are things I expected and things I did not. I really liked the Truth or Dare aspect of the book. Overall I found it to be a good book that touches on letting go of one's past and finding true love.
