WITHOUT MERIT

ABOUT WITHOUT MERIT:
The Voss family is anything but normal. They live in a repurposed church, newly baptized Dollar Voss. The once cancer-stricken mother lives in the basement, the father is married to the mother’s former nurse, the little half-brother isn’t allowed to do or eat anything fun, and the eldest siblings are irritatingly perfect. Then, there’s Merit.

Merit Voss collects trophies she hasn’t earned and secrets her family forces her to keep. While browsing the local antiques shop for her next trophy, she finds Sagan. His wit and unapologetic idealism disarm and spark renewed life into her—until she discovers that he’s completely unavailable. Merit retreats deeper into herself, watching her family from the sidelines, when she learns a secret that no trophy in the world can fix.

Fed up with the lies, Merit decides to shatter the happy family illusion that she’s never been a part of before leaving them behind for good. When her escape plan fails, Merit is forced to deal with the staggering consequences of telling the truth and losing the one boy she loves.

Poignant and powerful, WITHOUT MERIT explores the layers of lies that tie a family together and the power of love.
MY REVIEW
"Not every mistake deserves a consequence. Sometimes the only thing a mistake deserves is forgiveness."

Colleen Hoover never fails to blow me away. I swear I say this every time, but this time I mean it. Without Merit is one of my new favorites by her.

Without Merit took me by complete surprise. This was not what I expected but was just what I needed. I don't know if I would call this a romance, though there is, but it is a love story. Merit's family is full of secrets and boy do they have a lot. Merit is pretty much an outcast in her own family and holds all the secrets, but she's tired of it and wants to throw them in everyone's face. But the hard part is dealing with them and facing things about herself that maybe she didn't even know.

It's really hard to write a review for this one without spoiling it. Typical Colleen book ;) I devoured this book in a matter of hours. It made me smile, laugh, and cry. I didn't expect the crying, but it hit me.

This is not one you want to miss and I think it would be a good book for teens, too. It is easy to get swept away by Merit. Though you really do experience and see things through her eyes. I know this is a like a "duh" moment but it's different with this book. Just trust me. Pick it up. You won't regret it.

Where have I been?

I feel like I have not posted in a while. I am majorly slacking on reviews. Usually they go on Goodreads and Amazon, but I tend to forget to put them on here. Life is crazy. I am starting my last semester of college tomorrow, I am interning, and I have two kids in school full time. Plus trying to stay active and continue to get in shape. So that's life. Not to forget that I am starting to freak out about job searching after graduating. Momma needs a job 🤣

I hope to start updating and blogging again on a more regular basis. But we will see. Chances are no one reads these anyways 😆

Currently I am about to start Fraternize by Rachel Van Dyken. This one will release September 12th! I am sure this one is going to be full of laughs and steam. I just finished Wild Card by Karina Halle and my review is up! It is not one to miss! Another great read is Without Merit by Colleen Hoover which is out in October. I loved this one of hers!!! I have also read some good paranormal/supernatural books this summer as well.

Anyways- happy reading!

Review: Wild Card by Karina Halle

Wild Card by Karina Halle

Author: Karina Halle
Released: August 15, 2017
Standalone in a new series: North Ridge

Blurb:
What would you give up to have a second-chance at a once-in-a-lifetime love?

Wild Card is a STANDALONE SECOND-CHANCE ROMANCE from the NYT bestselling author of The Pact and Before I Ever Met You.

Rough, raw & rugged.

As the man in charge at Ravenswood Ranch, Shane Nelson has never been afraid to get his hands dirty. His sculpted physique isn't the product of a gym, but of years of hard labor under a relentless sun. His straightforward, alpha tendencies come from a man who knows what he wants and goes after it.

And what he wants is Rachel Waters.

He's never stopped wanting her.

They were childhood best friends, then teenage lovers who evolved into soulmates. But on one fateful night, Shane made a grave mistake, breaking both their hearts in the process.

Now, after six years, Rachel is back in the small, wild mountain town of North Ridge, BC.

Ready to face her past.

Ready to face Shane.

Ready to face his dark secret.

But is a second-chance at a one true love in the cards? Or will their wild hearts be broken once again?

WILD CARD is a complete standalone novel and the first book about the Nelson brothers of North Ridge.

Review
I really love a good second chance romance and this one delivered!

Out here, in the wild, I want her wild.

Six years ago Shane and Rachel broke up. It was harsh, unexpected, and devastating. Six years of hating the man who broke her heart for unknown reasons. Six years of still loving him despite her broken heart. Rachel has to come home and avoiding Shane is a top priority.

Shane made a decision six years ago that he still isn't over. He broke Rachel's heart and his own. But Rachel is back in town and he still wants her. He wants a chance to explain.

I really loved this book from the beginning. Shane was wild and swoony. He really is the best kind of book boyfriend. Rachel was a great character, too, and I really loved her and Shane. I found myself rooting for them from the beginning.

If you love Karina Halle (you'd be crazy not to) and second chance romances then be sure to pick this one up! I cannot wait for the next installments of this series. I am really excited to see what is in store for the other Nelson men!

"Love isn't a chain... It's not a shackle. Love is what sets you free, love doesn't confine. What I feel for you... it's wild and it's raw and it's as fucking real as that sun above us."

5 stars!!!!

Blog Tour: Until It Fades by K.A. Tucker

Blurb:
Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania (population three thousand outside of tourist season).

And then one foggy night, on a lonely road back from another failed date, Catherine saves a man’s life. It isn’t until after the police have arrived that Catherine realizes exactly who it is she has rescued: Brett Madden, hockey icon and media darling.

Catherine has already had her fifteen minutes of fame and the last thing she wants is to have her past dragged back into the spotlight, only this time on a national stage. So she hides her identity. It works. For a time.

But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. There’s an immediate connection, and it’s more electric than the bond of two people who endured a traumatic event. It’s something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something she is afraid to trust.

Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine...before the spark fades?

My Review
Until It Fades is a bit different from the stories we have came to expect from K.A. Tucker, however, it still has just a little bit of suspense to draw you in. Like all of her books I was pulled in from the beginning.

Catherine is not our typical female character. When we meet her she is a teenage girl making mistakes that get her name in the papers and pretty much ostracized in her community. Years later she is just trying to take care of her daughter and lay low. Things change when she comes across a car crash and manages to save a man's life.

Brett is a world famous hockey player and thanks to Catherine alive.
The connection between these two felt real and I enjoyed every minute of this book! Aside from the car crash, this felt like a relatively light read. Yes, there was some secrets but it really was just a good book and felt realistic.I enjoyed reading this side of K.A. Tucker's work.
4 STARS!!!!

When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson.

Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn't be that big of a deal since Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he's still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I'm trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer.

Boy, was I wrong.

Rules are set, dinners are made, conversations are had, and a shirtless, swoony roommate walks around in nothing but a pair of black briefs, ruining me for every other man.

Before I know it, I turn into a panting, lust-filled woman begging for Tucker to kiss me, touch me, and show me exactly what is hiding under those briefs.

But with great orgasms, comes great consequences.

Tucker might be my friend and roommate but he’s also my best friend's ex-boyfriend, making him completely off-limits. At least that's what my brain is telling me, my heart is speaking an entirely different language.

My Review
Can I just start by saying I love reading Meghan Quinn books?! She never disappoints.

Going into this one I didn't know what to expect, was it going to be full of drama, I mean title! Not that drama would have bothered me, we all like to read a little angst. Anyways, what i got was better.

Emma and Tucker were friends growing up and Tucker dated Emma's best friend, Sadie. But when things ended badly with Tucker and Sadie, he stopped hanging around and him an Emma lost touch. But Emma is in her last semester of nursing school when she gets evicted and has nowhere to go. As fate would have it, she runs into Tucker and he offers her a place to live. Not able to turn it down Emma moves in.

This book was filled with so many funny parts and the friendship between these two was so refreshing to read. It really is how it should be. The chemistry was off the charts! But there is still a few things hanging between them.. Sadie and Tucker's past. How will things turn out when you date your best friend's ex? Read and find out!! Because I don't want to spoil the story!

5 stars!!!

She is known to bust out and dance if "It's Raining Men" starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing... enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife.
