Blurb:
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.
Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.
They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.
Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.
Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.
They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.
Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.
My Review
Ugly love becomes you. Consumes you. Makes you hate it all. Makes you realize that all the beautiful parts aren't even worth it. Without the beautiful, you'll never risk feeling this. You'll never risk feeling the ugly.
No one writes books like Colleen Hoover. This book consumed me. I wholeheartedly believe her writing gets better with every book. I didn't think it was possible. I was wrong. These words have wrapped themselves around my heart.
This is one of those stories that I find hard to review. Not because it didn't work for me, because trust me it did. But because it is so hard to not give anything away. This is probably my favorite book right now. I'm afraid I am going to be left with a major book hangover. Nothing will gets Miles and Tate out of my head.
Usually when I read a book or when anyone reads a book there comes to a point in the story where you find yourself so angry at one of the main characters. That didn't happen for me here. I empathized with Tate and everything she was feeling. I loved Miles from the beginning and my heart ached for him. This book is filled with happy moments, sad times, and laugh out loud times. This is one of the sexist books I feel Colleen has ever written and let me tell you her sex scenes pull you in and add to the story just like everything else she writes. Without the sex in this book I feel like it would have been incomplete.
This book contains everything you expect a CoHo book to contain. The lines that make you laugh like this: "You want to have sex with me? I'll totally let you. A lot." and this: "When life gives you lemons, make sure you know whose eyes you need to squeeze them in."
To lines that squeeze your heart and make you cry: "If I were capable of loving someone... it would be you."
*claps hands wildly* I applaud you Colleen for writing another book that breaks my heart and mends it all at once. For writing a book that speaks to my soul. That makes my heart physically ache and soar. I cannot wait to read whatever else you have in store for us down the road. Though I think this one will be hard to top.
Don't hesitate to pick this one up. Be warned things do get messy. After all love can be ugly.
That's how it is when a person develops an attraction toward someone. He's nowhere, then suddenly he's everywhere, whether you want him to be or not.
